Hayfield Football Coach Fired

The court documents leaked on Asra Nomani’s X page, don’t look good for the Principal or Coach.

Kinda funny how neither one of them noticed all the transfers! Shouldn't the principal be on top of that? And the head of security didn't notice his former players in the hallways until they showed up in his weight room? Was he even doing that job?

Isn’t the head of security a “paper pusher” type of job in some office? He would direct the security guards to go out in the field and interact with the students. So he could argue he never saw his former players. I don’t know, but I’m trying to see if there’s some reasonable defense there.

Ms. Reid could argue in her defense that this is all news to her, and that she went by the legal playbook FCPS uses for dealing with sensitive matters.

The person to talk to is the Student Information Assistant (aka the registrar) at Hayfield. When a student registers from outside the county, a request is made for the records. There’s no way that person didn’t go to the principal after registering 14 kids from the same school and making all those requests for records to the same school.

Right and none of his former players made their way to said office knowing he is there just to say, what's up?!?

Didn't a female administrator try to bring up something similar and they transferred her to Annandale?

Why stop with the register? There was a end of year luncheon in June with all the staff where Thompson told them that under no certain terms that anyone should gossip or spread rumors about this.

I’m honestly baffled how FCPS investigated this and announced everything was fine?! Can someone explain?

Kind of sounds like "Baghdad Bob" doesn't it?

I wonder if the SIA at Hayfield mentioned it to Erin Crowley who did go to Thompson with concerns and was promptly silenced via transfer to Annandale by Region 6 Superintendent, Michelle Boyd. As the former Director of Student Services at Hayfield, She was the SIA's immediate supervisor . It makes since that she may have shared concerns.

A principal directing staff to refrain from gossiping and spreading rumors is not the smoking gun you think it is.

Big fan of Hayfield and was so excited for the season. Sucks that Overton was so afraid to lose that he had to circumvent the rules to win by 50-60 plus points a game. We had potential to build a dynasty if done the right way for the boys !

14 guesses….

There were 31 transfers so thats 31 possibilities

DP. Only 14 claimed to be homeless.

Only 2 did. Go back and read. Or google the FXTimes article

So did the other 29 claim to live with a grandparent or aunt or friend? And was the original investigation from back in August a complete and utter lie?

With 29, there are variations of what happened. Some families flat out moved (they were renting, lease was up, so they moved to Kingstowne). Others switched custody from one parent in Freedoms district to another parent in Hayfields district. Those are probably legal from a residency standpoint.

Then there are the 5 registered to a single address (referenced in the Hayfield letter to VHSL). And the fake homeless (mentioned in Fairfax Times article).

But don’t get distracted by the few parents who insist their move complied with residency requirements. Under VHSL rules, the mass moves violated the recruitment rule, regardless of whether each individual circumstance had a cover story.

So really, except for the ones lying about being homeless, they technically did not do anything wrong as far as claiming to live in the school zone. They really do. The thing that was wrong is the Coach asking or maybe helping them to change schools.

People here are claiming that they do NOT live in the school zone. That there was a van dropping off a group of kids coming from PWC every day and so on.
