Roe v Wade struck down

“She was just past 16 weeks pregnant. The Sunshine State limits abortions after six weeks, with an exception for pregnancies with fetal anomalies. But it soon became clear to Friend that doctors didn’t believe it applied to her situation. While waiting for the advanced test results, Friend’s doctor offered to confer with colleagues in nearby St. Petersburg to see if termination would be an option under the law in Florida.

When the results confirmed Trisomy 18, the doctor did not offer to connect her with abortion resources in Florida. Instead, she gave Friend two options: She could continue the pregnancy, or she could call the National Abortion Hotline, which helps people navigate abortion bans, including finding financial and logistical support for out-of-state travel. The subtext was obvious. Doctors didn’t believe Friend’s diagnosis qualified for a medical exception. If she didn’t want to face the high probability of watching her child die — or wait to miscarry — she’d have to travel out of state for an abortion.”

I just don’t understand how someone could have the information presented in this video and still say a total abortion ban is better for anyone.

Republicans aren't trying to make things "better" for anyone? They are driven out of hate and just want to punish women.

Fled Cruz is such a slithery sh#thead. This guy has two daughters - he’d actually support forcing his daughter to have her rapist’s baby?

He’s so gross.

Cruz was on the ropes in 2018 against Beto. He won 50.9% to 48.3%

This overwhelming early turnout in Georgia is making me think this could be a surprising election.

I think he assumes he and his money and power would be able to get his daughters to free states, or if it happened after a fascist takeover of the country, to a free country to get taken care of.

Women aren’t people in the GOP. Nothing like women dying or being forced to carry their rapist’s baby is going to stop forced birthers. They don’t care.

Yes. It’s possible that America is tired of GOP gaslighting that the insanity of MAGA is normal.

I’m going to keep saying it because it’s the relevant bit: women aren’t people in the GOP. They don’t care who gets hurt so long as women are getting punished because we don’t matter to them. Look at the way JD talks about women. Look at the way Donald treats women in addition to talking about women “bleeding from their wherever.”

I used to roll my eyes when I heard stuff like this. But over the past decade or so, it has seemed more and more true. When I read the above post I thought, “Yeah. That’s pretty much it.”

Makes me sad. It also makes me never, ever want to smile and play nice again.

I’m the one who keeps saying it on the abortion threads, but I challenge anyone to prove otherwise. When faced with evidence of the early damage (for the long term damage won’t begin to be seen for a while) their forced birther policies are causing, the GOP answer is to ignore it. The only time they treat rape with any seriousness is when it’s alleged to have been done by immigrants or LGBTQ people. They have a steady stream of crap for Vice President Harris is unfit, but the subtext is always “she’s a woman.” Their big political wishes include taking away women’s right to vote, birth control, ending no fault divorce, generally forcing women out of the public and into the home. Their two duo loathe women with every fiber of their being, with JD constantly being caught in some recent-ish tape of him saying how terrible women are in various ways.

Women aren’t people in the GOP.
