It occurred to me that there might be a group of people that target wealthy homes that are associated with local construction in the area. The neon vests that were found in the family's home and the wife's car made me think of that ---especially since Fairfax County, VA is having burglaries (19) in their area. On one of the past older posts on the www.fairfaxcounty.gov/jforum/posts an individual said that they had noticed construction in the area of past burglaries. It was one line yet made me think further about those vests. Somehow those type vests seem "official" especially if there is not an identifiable organization written on them. Just wondering if the vests were related to the AIW or not at all and wether the murderers were part of a larger scope of burgularies and crime.
I think it is helpful to have that "situational awareness" of what is occurring in our surrounding area. Neighbors looking out for each other, being aware and alert seems to best way to build a safer community. |
ITA! I have a question: why would the driver of the Porsche who was seen speeding away from the home, be wearing a vest at that point? It would only draw attention to him and be an easy detail to remember. It seems like a stupid move. Why didn't he take it off? Was he wearing the vest throughout the 18 hour ordeal? Anyone have a theory about that? |
Those construction vests are so lightweight, it is not really cumbersome to wear them. I think he just forgot to take it off. But who was he? |

Several thoughts/theories on the speeding vested driver:
1. Person/ ? accomplice was dropped off in a hurry after hearing that money was delivered. His job was to get rid of the car with fingerprints in it. Person forgot vest was on b/c of his sense of urgency. Maybe this was the accomplice with short neat hair? 2. Person was dropped off ---from a nearby vehicle …maybe the Ameri-Fleet truck that was the mobile rolling mechanic "garage on wheels" and again person forgot b/c that is the usual "uniform" of the job 3. Person / accomplice was dropped off from a local construction site and again forgot it was on as it primary objective was getting out of their fast. 4. Perhaps their were more accomplices near the family's home "looking out". They could have been dressed in vests as landscape workers, operators "fixing" something in the area that was really broken. Just looking "official" b/c who would suspect someone be dressed in a bright neon light not suppose to be there. Essentially hiding in plain site. I am also curious about the potential relationship if any between the conflicting stories concerning the race car driver and the conflicting story of the housekeeper and her knowledge of the money. I have read here that the time element is a factor in when the housekeeper heard about the money. I wonder if the Ameri-fleet (spelling?) mobile vehicle repair truck had any relationship to the Jessup go kart place. It seems also that the race car driver's lean physical appearance looked more in alignment with the body shape of the person in that much circulated video beside the church. I also wonder if this race car driver is innocent and vulnerable to harm now b/c he might be a witness with his private info on where he lives and where his family lives is being revealed. I guess it is a fine line with reporting the info from press and also balancing that with the protection of potential witnesses and the exposure of behind the scenes hard work done by detetives . |
Not being very bright comes to mind. |
Those are all good scenarios as to why he/she was still wearing the vest. Also, "Not being very bright comes to mind." I too wondered if an Amerifleet vehicle might have been used at the gokart track or with race cars in general to perform on the spot repairs. My understanding of the housekeeper's knowledge of the money drop was just that the assistant texted her AFTER the drop, not before. Is that what you were referring to? Am I missing something? |
No sh*t, Sherlock. See Jewell, Richard. |
| Any new developments? |

I think the Serial podcast should use this case for their next series. They would be great at getting answers to questions beyond what law enforcement reveals and what standard media can produce.

How could the cops have released the people Wint was with in those cars? Couldn't they at least be charged with aiding and abeting a known felon?? And more importantly if they were helping him convert the cash to money orders, isn't that a crime too?
And why no further updates? Have they not even interviewed Wint?? |
Exactly! |
Because the detectives see those who were released as being more valuable to the investigation thinking they are off the hook. I'm sure their phones are being tapped. These individuals are obviously very stupid to be in the company of the most wanted man in the country. They're probably talking their heads off. |
| I think the Feds should charge Wint with 1 count of capital murder involving torture, arson, and murder of a child, in the death of the son, and say they want the Federal death penalty, which applies in these cases. DC can charge him with the other 3 murders where there is no death penalty. Seems like that's the only leverage they have to get his cooperation. I am sure the police work is world class, but his cooperation would certainly help to bring closure to all of this. |

Has anyone heard anything about Daron Wint's brother - the one with the violent rap sheet?
Where was he when the murders/hostage taking happened? Many seem to believe that he was one of the accomplices, so it's interesting that things have been so quiet on that front. |
