There is no actual literature, but according to the code


it becomes a town via a petition and a finding by a commission and then a special court

Langley was built in 1965 and never had a renovation. It patiently waited its turn and finally received a much-needed reno. It didn’t receive any special treatment, if that’s what you’re implying. McLean is grossly overcrowded and the SB has known this for years. They desperately need an addition, but there is nothing in the works - even after years of discussion. I imagine you’d be pissed off if you had to send your kids to an overcrowded school while watching other schools (W.Potomac) get expansions they don’t even need.

Cooper is also in the middle of a renovation that was delayed over and over again. I went to Cooper and am almost 50 years old. The school looks exactly the same for my DS as it did for me.

The school system is coasting on its once excellent reputation. The last decade or so has made it abundantly clear how absurd things have become. Zoning may be a part of this, but mainly it’s insanely bad planning and choices on the part of FCPS. Period.

I didn't say Langley got special treatment. But it didn't get bad treatment. It's all just normal treatment. But that's not enough...

As has been stated repeatedly, McLean (and Great Falls) residents have been footing the bulk of the bill for renovations, new buildings, and expansions in schools across FCPS - for DECADES. McLean needs an addition, and has for some time , but the SB chooses to ignore this in favor of “equity.” Enough is enough.
