Her clothing is generally just awful. It’s gaudy florals, usually doesn’t fit properly, and often wrinkled. She needs a stylist.

I usually defend her here but this is awful. The side photo is not quite as bad which makes me wonder if it was riding up a bit when they took the straight on photo. Smocking is really hard to wear if his are over the age of 8. Every decade or so designers bring it back just to punk us.
Bell sleeves and off the shoulder are also a little tough for the older woman so this dress is really a challenge to wear.

I do sometimes see things in a store and think “oh this would be fun for a beach vacation!” It’s sometimes hard to pull yourself back from that and objectively assess whether it’s a good choice. I almost bought a bunch of caftans on my last vacation…. I’m sure I’ve been tempted by a fun off the shoulder look and I know I have a couple of bell sleeves in the closet that I regret buying.

We have all made fashion mistakes, but this is so achingly bad. The straight on photo makes her look like she is the curtain rod and her dress is the smocked valance.

OMG I didn't know she was 71. I actually that gets her closer to this being age appropriate, with that "I'm going to wear abusurd stuff and I can own it because I'm too old to care" vibe. (NP)
