That’s gorgeous and very unlike what she usually wears, brava.

Dare I say it? Jill looks more chic than Brigitte Macron!

Yes, I thought so too. The other poor lady looks a little like a robot.

I don’t think Jill looks more chic than Macron’s wife.

The white thing tied around her waist is a different material than the dress; it looks wrinkly, and so incredibly long and out of place. It looks odd and doesn’t serve a purpose, it just drags behind her. It’s white, so as it drags, it becomes filthy.

I think if the white thing was removed, Jill would look très chic. It looks like an old bed sheet was wrapped around her waist and is dragging behind her; like a kid playing dress up.

PPs - please. Jill does not look more chic than Brigitte. She looks silly with that enormous white train on a blue velvet dress.

Exactly this. The white sheet looks absurd.

If the waist and train were made of the same material I think it would work so much better. Or a lace material of the same color…idk, it just looks like a wrinkly sheet. The midsection looks so odd. The dress is a beautiful color and silhouette; it’s lovely except for the white middle and dragging sheet.

It's a Schiaparelli gown by their American lead designer, Daniel Roseberry. I disagree with the PPs - I love the contrast of fabrics and colors and I thought she looked very striking.

Yeah it’s striking alright. Makes her look wide in the waist, and if she has a wrinkly white tail.

Mrs. Macron looks much better. The dress Jill is wearing is an odd duck…

Also, can these privileged and incredibly wealthy and powerful women smile? What’s up with that blank looks and unsmiling eyes? They look almost hostile.

fine and age-appropriate

It’s a State dinner. You think that dress is sophisticated and elegant and formal enough to wear to a dinner honoring a visiting head of government or reigning monarch? A State dinner is part of an official state visit and provides the president and first lady the opportunity to honor the visiting head of state and his or her spouse. It’s not a bordello on the frontier, add a rose to her hair and she could be one of Miss Kitty’s girls.

+1. It’s classless. Plus stripper shoes.

Mrs. Macron is in her usual wig. Her skin is very tan and leathery. Her gown has a lovely silhouette and color. The metal studs on the side of her gown aren’t terrible, but I don’t know what she was going for. Robot dress? She looks terribly unimpressed and unhappy. Her eyes especially.

Jill looks old but that’s ok because she is. Her hair is dyed a very youthful blonde so I am sure that helps. If she had her natural gray hair she would look much different. The sash doesn’t accentuate her waist. The fabric behind her isn’t a train, or a ruffle. It’s a very long sash that is built into the gown’s waist.

I like her simply styled hair, it looks great. I like the earrings. She looks good except for that odd train. I suppose being in Paris called for fashion risks. It’s not awful, just weird. I think w/o the train it would have been perfect. Maybe the navy blue color is too dark for spring/summer, and the velvet too heavy a cloth, but she is older and probably gets cold a lot.

Biden’s eyes are so squinty. I thought maybe the sun was bothering him but nobody else in the picture is squinting.

I love this dress but agree the only thing wrong is velvet in June. Navy is perfect in spring/summer but in a different fabric.

How old was she in that picture? She looks terribly young.
