If you'd bothered to read the thread, you'd know HHS is normally not led by physicians or scientists. Sylvia Burwell did an excellent job and she came from the budget office. |
Becerra is being rewarded for the 100 plus lawsuits he brought against the Trump administration. DHS will likely be the target of extensive wrongful death suits as the pandemic continues. Look at who it serves. He will be mire of a law firm partner managing hordes of lawyers and will have little to do with DHS. He is a Stanford lawyer and a good pick. |
Fudge won't get Sec Ag but will likely get HUD. Because Clyburn says so! Interesting how she might leapfrog Bottoms, Bass, and others who've been in the mix a while.

Ugh I want Fudge to stay in the House so Nina Turner doesn’t run for her seat. |
Maya Harris needs to step off. Hasn't she done enough damage to her sister?

I've also wondered why Whitmer's name hasn't popped up for joining the Biden admin. Clearly he really likes her. She says she wants to stay in MI: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/12/08/michigan-governor-gretchen-whitmer-biden-443596 |
I am a huge fan of Whitmer and think she would be a great candidate in the future. However, she doesn't really have a niche area of expertise that would get her a spot like DOJ, State, etc. And usually they give people like that HUD or Transportation, which I don't think is worth giving up the governors mansion for. |
I'm interested in the politics behind this. Seems there is a pattern of appeasing allies who don't get their first choice, like Lujan Grisham being offered Interior instead of HHS (even though she turned it down). |
