Some of the ODFC kids went to McLean and filled the space created by some of their players going to Spirit. Oddly enough, McLean 05 went from last to 1st after this change. Go figure.

So what team did FCV absorb this year?

Dont know...but FCV has recruited and/or partially absorbed another clubs star team for at least the last six years.

There are no more clubs to con. They ran out of “merger” partners. The game is up for them.

Brush up on the tactics..

For example, prior to Gus being at FCV, he coached and developed Annandale United 99. They were 3x state champions and arguably the best 99 team in the region. FCV hires Gus. Gus brings his team with him.
Annandale 99 is rebranded FCV ECNL 99 and they go undefeated in the MA divsion. They later fired GUS.

That team was national champions. Beat NEFC.

They also later rehired Gus. Very good coach and recruiter.

Yes, I'm well aware.

Example #1: Befriend the coach and have him bring the team to you by giving him an offer he cant refuse. Such as FCV making " Soccer the Brazilian Way" responsible for all their camps.

Example #2. Use "holistic" summer camps and regional national training centers to recruit the best players from opposing teams. Reach out to the parents and play on their ego. Tell them they need to be under FCV to get to the next level.

Example #3. Use your network or personal trainers (one prominent one who is a US scout) to recruit players.

Its not hard.

Job well done. Bravo. Is that why Christian sold to St James ?

Christian sold to St. James because he never wanted FCV in the 1st place.

Build the brand, sell the brand and player pool (custoners), have new company give you a job.

Bingo.

Lol. So he bought and sold FCV so he could get a job at STJ? Right.

Christian has a big ego, he is targeting pro soccer. This while thing was enabled by Richie opening the door for him at STJ, enabling him to use his tactical soccer training at the pro level vs running a struggling business.

What it looks like to me is that FCV can produce teams and players that play great soccer. If I am a parent of a kid that can play at the ECNL/DA level, I am giving FCV a look. I will also give McLean a look. Haters, please go away.

How’d any of those teams do at “Nationals”?

From the guy who followed nationals on the internet from his couch in his underwear.

Yeah, I gotta agree. Who cares how they did at nationals? I hope my kid’s team never makes it to nationals anyhow as I don’t want to pay to fly out there and stay for 5 days. I want them to do well, but not so well ... if you know what I mean.

The "top" teams in U9-U12 are only the top teams because they have good athletes who could play up a year. An entire team of kids who could play up a year playing agains a normal team in the same age group wins every time. Check back in middle school and the teams have had huge tunrover and dropped the athletes who scored 15 goals a season at ulittle age.

Cool let them abuse your kid then

Abuse! You eeem like another snowflake raising another generation of snowflakes.

Obviously, there are very direct coaches. If that is not you cup of team then fine but don't call it abuse.

Calling players an embarrassment is certainly "direct". If that is your cup of tea, good for you.

Two players "selected" to Best XI in the East - Nope - not selected by DA. They were submitted by Christian to the DA with a strong write up. They also have parents whom are very close to Christian, text him suggestions and comments during games. Basically very political - like everything else. One of the "best" hasn't shown much of anything besides injuries for a year. Every step in that career will be on the coat tails of Christian.

I agree. Any one remotely familiar with FCV will know exactly how these players were selected? Should have submitted the same support for the Seniors graduating - not two youngers.

"What it looks like to me is that FCV can produce teams and players that play great soccer".

Yeah. That's what it looks like. However, they developed very few of those players.

You dont care about politics? You should. You are about to spend a disgusting amount of money on soccer. Unless you have a close personal tie to one of the coaches at FCV - forget it. You will pay a lot of money to support the children of Christians friends. Looking at the website - why wasn't the midfielder with 25 goals AND a top 10 goal scorer for all DA u18/U19 selected to the Best XI? That's 10 more goals than the one selected. NO PERSONAL connection to the coaches - just a nice kid working hard on the field with no recognition.

Bets on how long it takes them to show up on the Wash Spirit team?

Are you saying you believe the two selected for the Best XI will move to MU? No chance!
