I've seen people on local Facebook groups saying it doesn't matter if they clear their sidewalks because it's not being enforced. They are not going to do it unless someone threatens them. To the PP who gave it another try and gave up - I'm sympathetic if you're talking about a giant wall of plowed snow. If it's just your normal sidewalk, you had 8 days to figure out a solution. It's 100% on you that you didn't do anything yet. |
Kids should know better. They need to find a safe place to stand within eyesight of the stop and the bus can adjust. |
| If you read the snow enforcement page, they say that they are going to encourage "voluntary compliance" starting today. I don't think they'll fine anyone, but hopefully if they start showing up more people will start shoveling. We have kids walking down the middle of very narrow and still icy roads to get to the bus because people didn't even try to shovel. |
In my defense, I’ve clocked over 15 hours out there at this point. I injured myself trying to dig us out from behind the iceberg they erected in front of my driveway. At this point I should fine the county for the absurd labor the subjected me to! I’m very comfortable invoking an exemption as to what remains. |
That's nice. Your neighbors are judging you for your cleared driveway/uncleared sidewalk combo. When it inconvenienced you personally, you managed just fine. |
| The roads around the Career Center were an s-show this morning. I’m glad I drove my kid because I suspect he’d still be on the bus (if it showed up). As for shoveling, I’d shoveled everything that was mine days ago (and it took days). The long stretch of county road next to my property that has snowbanks plowed on top of it? Nuh uh. Either it’s my land or it’s not. |

My god people pay a teenager $30 and they'll clear the sidewalk for you. In fact if you ask nicely they'll likely do it for free. Zero problem solving skills. I have seen teens roaming neighborhoods. I have seen people posting on nextdoor offering services. Now they're all in school of course but they were hanging around all freaking week. Are people so isolated from humanity they can't even sort out how to do this?

| By the time we figure out what the perfect solution to all this is, the ice will melt. And then hopefully we don't have another storm like this for many years! |
| Yikes, on one hand there’s a ton of melting happening and on the other hand, there’s lots of puddles of water on the streets. Is that going to freeze overnight? |
I wish they would announce it now at least for tomorrow if we are supposed to have ice or snow tonight? |
Yes, according to the forecast it will freeze overnight. |
Your reading comprehension is dismal. They are offering their services on Nextdoor for $100-$200. $30 was when the storm first came through. Keep up! |
Also, everyone on here thinking they know the extent of the ice challenge faced by any particular person is hilarious. The county is huge and there are some rock solid spots ain’t nobody clearing without some serious equipment. |
lol. When it “inconvenienced” me, I injured myself trying to dig though a 6 foot iceberg to restore access to the road. My neighbors are completely iced in as well. As is often the case on the internet, you think you know but you actually don’t. |
+1 Some dickhead said he didn't bother cleaning his sidewalk because schools weren't going to be open (even though they were) and the county wasn't enforcing it. Some people need a kick in the ass. |
