So much (of our) money, so little taste.

I’m going to look on the bright side. The WH will have a 90,000 sq ft facility that can be repurposed by future Administrations for good.

A $230 million shakedown of US companies to line his pockets is VERY MUCH something to fight about.

So he’s knocking down the whole east wing now.

Why do they need a ballroom? Do you really think that having State dinners in a tent is a good thing? That is what they have been doing. As well as being second class, it is a security issue.

Taxpayers are not paying for it.

No. MAGA upthread said it's just a wall. But, then another MAGA said it was just a small portion and she provided a drawing that wasn't even sharpied, so I'd say it was real.

I can’t believe he lied! Just kidding. OF COURSE he lied.

Demolishing the entire east wing with no approval. Just horrendous. And Congress is just standing by allowing this to happen.

It is going to be made of plywood and pressboard with gold paint.

Trump’s new Epstein Ballroom will soon be the venue for many sweet 16 parties and quinceñeras.

Everyone - please reach out to these agencies to ask them to approve a smaller, ballroom that is aligned with the current building. Ask them to remember their mission statement!

White House Historical Association
https://www.whitehousehistory.org/

National Trust for Historic Preservation (They put out a very weak statement)
https://savingplaces.org/

National Capital Planning Commission (The White House said it's sending blueprints this week. If it ever reopens)
https://www.ncpc.gov/default.html

Trust for the National Mall (They accepted the $24M YouTube extortion $$ and are accepting donation for the ballroom and desperately courting donors this week).
https://nationalmall.org/

DC Office of Planning
https://planning.dc.gov/page/permits-and-design-review-government-projects

Thank you! And, call your Congresspeople!

The construction must be approved by historical preservation committee, but demolition needs no approval. The demolition was not consistently communicated and has been far more extensive than expected.
The greatest concern now is will this extensive demolition weaken the entire White House? Without communication, there is no way of knowing if this is going to have a lasting effect on structural integrity.

You seriously think a man that made his career in building and construction, who is paying for a large amount of the project himself, would hire someone that’s going to make poor decisions regarding structural integrity?

You smoking crack.

Another MAGA been duped by Trump.

Trump's caeer has not been highlighted by building and construction. It has been marketing and somehow attaching his name to luxury and success. His actual building projects:

Grand Hyatt New York (Commodore Hotel renovation),

Trump Tower (NYC),

Trump World Tower (NYC),

40 Wall Street,

Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, and

Trump International Las Vegas.

Since you seem a bit intellectually impaired, that is 6. Some career for the world's greatest businessman.

All of this, just adding/correcting that 40 Wall Street is almost 100 years old so certainly wasn’t built by Trump.

What was wrong with the state dining room or east room?

It didn’t allow him to bribe and extort companies for millions that he will redirect to
his personal accounts.
