I like Nikki as a host and hope she does well. I hope she roasts the celebs worse than Ricky Gervais did!

Nikki is good friends with Bill Maher and David Spade (among other comics/celebs). I wonder if she got any jokes or inspiration from them?

Some of it was funny. But all of it was mean. He definitely had the vibe of “I don’t care if everyone here hates me and I’m never invited back. I don’t need you dumb Americans.” It was a little refreshing but in the end more off-putting than funny.

I think she already said she wouldn't be so harsh since this is her first GG and she wants to be reoccurring

Ricky Gervais was not funny - just mean

True that.

No, she wasn’t. Have you seen I’m Still Here?

Yes I have. Nicole still gave the most daring and critically acclaimed preformance.

Torres's performance was heartwrenching, far more emotional than Nicole's. And in a better film, which matters.

Dress itself is lovely. It is from the Haute Couture S/S 1966 collection by Hubert de Givenchy.

In a release about the look, an archivist at Givenchy shared, "The dress is pale yellow silk with a hand-beaded bodice ... from the epic Givenchy Haute Couture/Audrey Hepburn era ... cne of the most important unions between a designer and muse."

Did Hepburn wea the dress? She had dark hair and more blue toned skin. Grande has more yellow toned Mediterranean skin plus the light reddish hair makes it all extremely washed out and sallow looking. A softer, fuller look on her hair might have helped balance it out a little. It’s a beautiful dress but wrong for her and badly styled here.

+1
Both Ariana Grande and Zendaya should not be wearing warm colors with their skin tones.

Disagree on Zendaya, but only because her skin literally glows from within. It lets her get away with a lot of stuff that should not work. She's advanced.

TOTALLY! I love this color on her, but honestly, I've NEVER seen her look bad.

I thought almost everyone looked fabulous aside from the blue bucket hat guy, Angelina Jolie (dress was matronly and hair too light) and Katie Bates, whose face and hair looked beautiful, and she deserved better than a dowdy pant suit. But it's the most glamorous award show I've seen in a long time, with dresses that were so elegant and glamorous without trying too hard.

Thanks for the background -- my first thought was Hepburn and now I see why.

I think the gloves were wrong and that the color doesn't work, especially with her hair that shade of blonde. I think if she'd gone platinum it would have worked better, though unfortunately she still would have been screwed over by that pale pink and yellow rose backdrop. She looks better in the room (though the dress itself is less striking while seated).

Couldn’t find Audrey in that dress - only a similar one

I wish we could see if against the green background. Against the yellow she just disappears into the background.

The color story still doesn't work for me -- she looks sick here. Agree with the PP who said her skin tone is too warm for this yellow and it's made worse by the auburn tones in her hair. This is not a warm yellow so it clashes.

I loved this look from 2019 Grammys, styled by Law Rowch

This photo mainly just makes me think she badly needs to evolve her hair and makeup look. It doesn't need to be drastically different but come on -- this is 6 years ago and it's the *exact same* look from the neck up. Enough.

Well, it’s not the exact same — it’s worse. I think I figured out what is so odd about her current expression — her eyebrows are gone and replaced by a ginger colored eyebrow pencil. It gives her face a really weird expression. Normal eyebrows would really help the whole look.

You're right! I can't believe I couldn't figure that out. The eyebrows are the worst, followed by the hair color. I think the dress is beautiful, and she would have looked much better in it with dark hair and about 10 pounds on her.

wow, has she changed a lot in 5 years.

The GG dress was beautiful but not flattering on her. The dress is wearing her and she fades into it.

I don't love the color of Zendaya's dress but as usual it's a stunning dress and she looks fantastic.

This is all anyone pretty much has to say about Zendaya. Her acting talent is very mediocre.

I think my favorite dress is Selena's. I love the color and the style.

I'd guess she weighed 15 pounds more in that earlier photo, and looked much better for it. Compare her arms/shoulders. Yikes.

Agree with this. She is a mediocre actress and bland in interviews.

Movie stars get measured by multiple metrics, not just acting talent/skill. There is also a charisma/magnetism metric (it factor), as well simply looking very good on film. I think Zendaya is middling on acting talent and skill, above average on charisma/magnetism, very high on looking gorgeous on film. Often with actors like that, they get better as they age because the charisma/magnetism never goes away but their skill as an actor improves with experience. Sadly, for women, they start to lose their on-screen looks due to societal expectations and they often don't get a chance to develop as an actor because they stop getting roles. Look at Demi Moore -- she finally got a super meaty role in her 60s after years of not having much at all to work with, and she knocked it out of the park. She had a different quality back at the start of her career than Zendaya has now, but about evenly matched in terms of acting skill (Demi had a habit of over-acting in her early roles, perhaps the result of coming up in soaps, while Zendaya has a tendency to under act but that's also very much the style of this era so she may just be giving directors what they want).

In any case, I can think of plenty of actors less deserving praise than Zendaya. The world needs movie stars and she is one. She's a better actor than Glen Powell (though his on-screen magnetism is through the roof).

Zendaya stepped out to the 2025 Golden Globe Awards in an elegant corset gown inspired by the late American singer and activist, Joyce Bryant.

Zendaya’s dress in particular appears to be an homage to a Zelda Wynn Valdez dress Bryant wore on the cover of her 1954 album, Runnin’ Wild. Valdez, a Black designer helped redefine Bryant’s image (in some ways similar to the relationship between Law and Zendaya).

Though she also dressed stars like Dorothy Dandridge, Gladys Knight, and Earth Kitt. She also designed the original Playboy bunny uniform.

“Who smells like patchouli and weed now, b***h?”

That's a lot of words to make up for her marginal acting talent. She was a child star but doesn't seem to be excelling as an adult actress around much more talented women. A pretty face can only get you so far.
