The DOGE contract cuts have mostly been illusory. Freezing grants was unlawful and enjoined, cutting funds to research universities doesn't move the needle much for reducing federal spending. If Republicans actually want to reduce spending, they would look to someone with experience of improving a business or enterprise rather than Musk who has no experience with that. Maybe they aren't actually interested in reducing spending... |
Stagflation is becoming the new forecast baseline

This is government spending, not consumer spending. Is the government buying stuff ahead of the tariffs? |
Yup. Trump really is intent on taking us back to the 70s. Here’s Forbes: A return to a 1970s-style stagflation scenario would be disastrous for investors, yet recent economic indicators suggest a similar pattern may be unfolding. While inflation has eased from its 2022 peaks, it remains stubbornly above the Federal Reserve’s 2% target. At the same time, consumer sentiment has dropped sharply, business activity is slowing as companies await clarity on trade policy, and key labor market indicators are beginning to weaken—all signs of a cooling economy. https://www.forbes.com/sites/garthfriesen/2025/03/29/stagflation-warning-signs-emerge-in-the-us-economy/ |
You are right, this refers to government spending. It just exposes what a sham "DOGE" is...they are taking huge amounts of money for themselves while decimating effective goverment programs |
Gotta touch the stove. We tried to protect people from themselves, they didn't want it - now they get to see what happens when they let this demented moron loose on things. |
GOLDMAN hikes its odds of US recession to 35% — from a prior 20%.
The move reflects “the sharp recent deterioration in household and business confidence, and statements from White House officials indicating greater willingness to tolerate near-term economic weakness in pursuit of their policies.” https://bsky.app/profile/carlquintanilla.bsky.social/post/3llmtqkcybc2v |
Personally, I am tired of the winning. |
I think they are actually interested in reducing spending. The problem is that they are also reducing revenue, by way more than they are reducing spending. The deficit will be going up, bigly. |
You're delusional and insular enough to think Trump can tariff the entire world with zero impacts to the US economy? |
"let's become Cuba"
What a great description for what the US will become and how the cars everyone owns will be frozen in time. |
