And now Trump is talking about giving handouts to farmers who are hurt by the tariffs. The stupidity is mind boggling. Why pay people to be idle?

Because it papers over his failing economic policy. Trump’s bailout to the farmers in his first term cost taxpayers $12 billion in 2017, $16 billion in 2018 and another $16 billion in 2019. That’s almost as much as the State Department’s annual operating budget.

Add to it that these subsidies go to red areas while the blue areas, that have been the core of the national GDP are left to rot, thus degrading the US economy, so the whole thing spirals even more.

Baby steps. If the dems can get a bloc of republicans to vote against trump on Canada tariffs, that’s something to build from. And it will completely set trump off.
