I'm not "court tv lady," I'm a GULC JD with decades of experience in our criminal justice system and several hundred DUIs under my belt as both a defender and a prosecutor.

And you must not know many people in Mass who have actual brains in their heads, or the ones you know are all cult susceptible non-critical thinkers.

you must be a terrible attorney to believe such lies. GULS should take your degree back.

You have no investment into this case. I am local. My parents live in Canton. Everyone in town knows she didn’t do it and is getting railroaded while I pay for it as a taxpayer.

Every ALL CAPS comment you make can be rebutted.

MSP is garbage as is Canton PD. Look at the Birchmore case.

I have no investment in the case? I'm a sworn officer of the court and I take the disgusting attack by Read and her defense on our system very, very personally.

Your Canton residing parents don't make you a special snowflake dearie; my family built the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1620 when they stepped off the Mayflower and in every generation since through a long and storied family history of public service. My grandfather was William Bradford, you fool.

Canton PD isn't garbage and screw you for saying it. MSP isn't garbage either, although like any police force in this nation is has a history of corruption and needs reform. No different from any other cop shop in America. The fact that some cops are crap is what gives a disgusting lie like Karen's defense fertile ground to grow - that and the fact that there are so many cop haters like you and your parents in this world.

We’re here because her criminal defense attorneys don’t care about that, they want their billable hours and to make a joke of the justice system.

In those conditions with the shades drawn and being sound asleep after a day/night of drinking, Brian Albert didn't wake up. He and his wife didn't wake up until Jen McCabe, Brian's wife's sister, came up the stairs into their room to wake them.

The police, EMTs and fire department rolled silent to the call as is the usual practice very late at night and early morning to residential addresses. Karen's screaming was sucked away by the howling blizzard wind which also dampens all other sounds.

It's almost like the people commenting on this have never lived in a place where blizzards happen and have no familiarity with the conditions. For the record, this storm was in the top ten of recorded winter storms in the modern era for eastern Massachusetts, it was a very real storm and it also accounts for the issues that arose with Canton PD trying to collect evidence in those conditions prior to arrival of the MSP search team.

And yes, even if the weather conditions had been ideal it would have been stupid for Albert to insinuate himself into a crime scene in Canton where he has no jurisdiction when there was Canton PD and EMS and fire department all on scene - he doesn't give better CPR than a paramedic firefighter. It's a total red herring to point to him for not coming out of the house.

The data evidence is science and it will win the case. But the conspiracy theories are so ludicrous I cannot believe anyone of average or above average intelligence is swallowing it. Those of you who do must be deep-seated cop haters.

The cops and the public defenders in my family think she’s innocent and that the son did it.

They didn't. It ended in a mistrial because the jury could not reach consensus.

Part of the issue is that the police investigation was totally mishandled. Also the medical examiner could not even say for sure what his cause of death was and there were experts who testified that his injuries were not consistent with being hit by a car. Even if she did hit his arm with the corner edge of her taillight, that's generally not enough to kill a person. A lot of things don't add up.

No, the jury DID reach consensus on two out of the three charges: they found her not guilty of murder and leaving the scene of an accident. They could not agree on involuntary manslaughter.

"there were experts who testified that his injuries were not consistent with being hit by a car."

THAT'S A LIE! PROOF From the first trial:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEIvS5yPxY0

Nice try though!

There is no “nice try” involved. The 1st jury found her not guilty of two out of three charges. Whether you think she hit him or not does not matter when it comes to that.

The charges are related.

1- she murdered on purpose. (NG)
2- she left the hit & run scene on purpose (NG)
3 - she killed him on accident, vehicular manslaughter, and wrecklessly/ drunk (mistrial)

PATENTLY FALSE ASSERTION.

The first jury RETURNED ZERO VERDICTS.

They DID NOT FIND HER NOT GUILTY of any of the charges. Her ridiculous appeals on this issue, which was created by her $5 million dollar defense team's failure to request a poll or inquiry of a jury that came back three times to say they were deadlocked ON THE CHARGES, is a waste of time which was verified by every Massachusetts state court of appeals, by two federal courts of appeals, and by SCOTUS denying her petition for cert.

I'm shocked by the level of stupidity being exhibited in some comments here.

Many people go to prison for decades on circumstantial evidence less strong than the evidence in this case. We will never see a video of her SUV hitting John and it is likely she's not even clear on the mechanism of the strike because she was 2-4x the legal limit when she plowed into him. We DO have vehicle data which establishes an INTENTIONAL reversal of the vehicle for 60+ feet at 24mph and the very clear moment of the vehicle striking a stationary object of much lighter weight and the 'hiccup' in speed that results from the transfer of kinetic energy from vehicle to object struck.

We have her telling her dad the morning of that she backed up and struck something.

We have her telling at least a half dozen people repeatedly that she HIT HIM she HIT HIM she HIT HIM on the morning she 'discovered' his body where she last left it earlier that morning.

We have her leaving screaming banshee messages on his voicemail for an hour before she passed out drunk, and we have her waking up from her passed out state and immediately calling people to tell them John was dead and probably hit by a plow. She even woke his poor teenaged niece with such still drunken declarations in the very wee hours of the morning.

Have you people really never had any experience with how extreme intoxication translates into bizarre human behavior?

And finally, she did not need to have intended his death - she is charged with second degree DEPRAVED HEART murder, which requires only that she intended an act that exhibited extreme recklessness and disregard for human life. An act like backing at your boyfriend in a drunken rage after he's left your vehicle and started walking toward a house party that you don't want to attend and that you don't want him to attend because you want him to go home with you and kiss your narcissistic ass all night long and tell you how special and wonderful you are.

That's what happened. Karen murdered John. I cannot wait to watch the court officers put John's handcuffs on her scrawny wrists and walk her out of the Dedham courthouse for the ride to MCI Framingham where she can gorge herself on carbs and toilet hooch for the next few decades while she feels sorry for herself BECAUSE NOTHING IS EVER HER FAULT. She's an odious human being and deserves to suffer the rest of her life. It's disgusting that she is a celebrity among morons and that some of you have such a pathetic grasp of our criminal justice system.

Woah! Ma’am this is an Arby’s.

In how many of your several hundred DUIs was the accused picked up six hours after the charged events? Just curious

I see this thread has DCUM’d and finally hit the point where we can’t tell if it’s a troll or satire.

"Don't you know who my great great great great great grandfather is, fool?" is a real low point for a site already mostly populated by the deranged.

This should be a slam dunk for the defense. They exposed that one of the key prosecution witnesses lied to the grand jury. The statie who was fired was the chief investigator. The FEDS seem fairly confident that she didn't do it. The made for tv movies are going to be insane here.

I think it deserves an actual high quality movie, with Affleck and Damon obviously but not sure who can play Karen Read.

Some of you have never experienced post alcohol binge anxiety and it shows.

I have a household of law-enforcement officers and believe me, dude is guilty AF

He was already dead. Killed eight hours earlier by Karen

So if you looked outside and saw a dead body on your lawn, and police outside, you’d…stay in your house? No.
That’s guilt.
