Navy Elementary New Principal

It was better but recent weeks its slowed down a lot from people parking in the kiss and ride lot that everyone has to drive though.

It is really slow now in the morning. On occasions when my kids missed the bus, it took forever to get through the line. Here is what I have noticed. 1. Parents, you do not need to stop right in front of the school. It is ok to be 5 cars back and stop and let your kids out. 2. If you have to help your kid get out of their car seat and help with backpack, keep driving and park and then help them, do not hold up the line for that. 3. People that are parked and need to back out should yield to cars exiting the line. When the line is stopped that is when you should back out. These things should be common sense and parents should be more mindful of other people in the morning and make considerate decisions.

I got stuck in line as 4-5 different cars were backing out of the parking lot which grinded the whole line to a stop for 2-3 min. Can't imagine how long that made the back of the line.

Anyone know how the new principal was nominated for outstanding new principal??

How is Navy. We’re considering for AAP if my child gets in so we don’t have to deal with the horrendous construction at our base school. Rumor has it construction will last two more years and is waaaaay behind schedule.

I would go to get away from construction for sure. But that’s the only reason to switch over really.

That award is usually presented to those with 2-3 years of experience. Only four months on the job and nominated reeks of some diversity quota. What can be evaluated so positively in such a short time? Short But then again the incompetent Doug Tyson is in charge at Region 1.

Also I heard no one likes him so I was surprised he was nominated.

Can’t anyone within FCPS or Navy submit a nomination? I remember getting emails about it. So surely some parent, admin, or teacher is happy with him?

I don’t have an opinion one way or the other as I have barely interacted with him as a parent. He has an uphill battle to win over teachers considering they loved his predecessor. Anyone who comes in and starts doing things differently is going to be met with some skepticism. I hope people aren’t just being closed minded. Leadership changes happen in every job for all kinds of reasons. Just because you liked your boss and the way they ran things doesn’t mean you are entitled to have it that way forever.

Navy PTO more activation than crossfield, with science olympiad and math count team and the programming class.

The Crossfield PTO doesn't do clubs like other schools do - and now with the construction, they're really not doing anything, even when other schools and PTOs have offered up their facilities.

That’s a bummer about Crossfield

The students adore him. He is kind and very interactive.
