| Just wondering.... |
| Lawyers, developers, people in sales, surgeons... |
| Partners in law firms. |
|
Lawyers, lawyers and lawyers. Primarily of the partner-in-a-large-firm variety.
And maybe a handfull of physicians (cardiac surgeons, neurosurgeons). The majority of doctors don't make anywhere near that. |
|
Or you could become a celebrity - I figure Julia Roberts makes $20 mill a picture so all we have to do is just make one and we'd be set, right?
Otherwise, I think of $400k jobs as high-level executives, high up IT folks, surgeons, folks in finance (though not many are making this at this particular time obviously); corporate lawyers. |
| AIG executives |
| Large law firm junior partners. Senior partners make much, much more. There are a lot (at least 50) large law firms in DC. |
| Of counsel at some of the larger law firms may also make that much. With bonus (last year) some senior associates at my old firm made that much. |
| Lawyers, lobbyists, people in finance and real estate (although perhaps not so much for the last two these days). |
How is of counsel compensation calculated? Is it a percentage of what is billed/billable or a salary with bonus potential? |
| Certain other medical specialties, too. I know a diagnostic radiologist who's first job this year is paying him $400K. |

Diagnostic radiologists are known for making $$$$. It's pretty much the field to go in to in medicine if you want to make $$$ without putting in a decade of post graduate training. Salaries are comparable to cardiac surgery (which takes about 7 more years of training).
When I think "poster child for $$$ in medicine" I think diagnostic radiologist. Most of medicine makes no where near that. |
| Finance types, laywers; physicians in certain fields (plastic surgeons, urologists, some radiologists); lobbyists; business executives. |
| Very good real estate agents |
| Consultants |
