Wanting to lose weight-no will power, should i try Nutrisystem?

I am not sure I can stomach the food or the $300 price tag, but I am getting desperate. Any suggestions?

I did medifast and found it very effective as a way to jump start things. I think it's similar.

Clean-eating the majority of the time is a pretty easy way to take weight off.

I've done Medifast and Nutrisystem. Medifast works really fast if you have willpower to stick to 900 calories a day. I find it difficult while chasing around two kids, but I'm trying again because it's so effective. Nutrisystem didn't work for me because it involved supplementing with a lot of store bought food and I couldn't keep up with the meal planning. But the food is definitely better on Nutrisystem. They also offer a discount for many insurance plans, so maybe ask for that.

This must be from a naturally skinny person. for people with horrible metabolisms this does nothing.
If i eat 1/4 cup of nuts I gain a pound.

Completely agree. And we're talking true clean eating. Check out the 21 day fix. It's portion control via containers and has a 30min workout per day. I need to lose around 100lbs total and this has been a great start especially breaking my addiction to sugar. I'm sure there are coaches in the area but you can get it from BeachBody or Amazon.

Nope, not even close. And you're doing it wrong.

I started in earnest about 3 days ago. Ask me in a week how things are going

I didn't want to pay for a good system. I wanted to try 21 day fix but we don't have a DVD player anymore. Beach body just started a streaming option but 21 day isn't available and I'm not up for the hour long work outs.

All this is to say I decided to go back to portion control and making healthy choices and lots and lots of water. Lunch has been salads with grilled chicken. Tonight's dinner was steak brown rice and snap peas and more water.

I'm not hungry but I do miss mindless eating.

For exercise I actually started to go to the gym instead of just paying the monthly fee. As I said, ask me in a week how it's going.

LOL. You sound like my sister. I eat like a bird ! Yeah, a vulture. Too much in the mouth puts too much on the butt. Fact.

Metabolism changes though. I was so skinny all the way into my early 40s. I ate WHATEVER. I did exercise a lot. If I wanted to lose weight I just stopped eating Ben and Jerry's every day for a few days or a week.

Now I exercise strenuously every day, and eat very very little. I have lost 10 of the 25 I need to lose, but it is a battle every day to keep losing even a couple pounds a week. I hardly eat any dinner at all, because if I do, I can feel that it was a weight neutral or weight gaining day.

STINKS but I'm 45 and them's the breaks.

Try diet hypnosis or subliminal CDs.

I used to think like you. However, 2years ago, I moved from DC to VA beach. I walk or bike EVERYWHERE here. The climate is slightly milder and the summers are more tolerable with the ocean air. It is not unusual for me to walk 10 miles in a day, specially if I want to make my way down to the boardwalk for dinner or lunch. On my bike, I'm also often pulling along groceries. Changing NOTHING surrounding my eating, I have dropped weight like a brick. Working out does not even count. Working out hardly makes a dent in your metabolism if the rest of the day you are not on the move. Having a body in motion to buy groceries, get kids to school, eat dinner, or run an errand is the biggest metabolism boost you can get. I now eat whatever and whenever I want. I work hard for my food...pulling along 40lbs of groceries or walking the 4 miles down to the boardwalk and then another 4 back. In DC, no matter how walkable, biking what a physical hazard. In VA beach we have bike trails connecting EVERYTHING, even pretty far off the coast. Drivers are aware of the bikers so it is not hazardous like in DC.

I'm telling you, the lifestyle in DC is a killer. Sure it is walkable, but not like living at the beach. I would suggest to anyone wanting to speed up their metabolism is to find a way to do as much as possible using your own energy source. If you live near the W& OD trail in Virginia, simply biking to and from work and then taking 20min walk on your lunch would melt the pounds away.
