Clean-eating the majority of the time is a pretty easy way to take weight off.
This must be from a naturally skinny person. for people with horrible metabolisms this does nothing. If i eat 1/4 cup of nuts I gain a pound.
I used to think like you. However, 2years ago, I moved from DC to VA beach. I walk or bike EVERYWHERE here. The climate is slightly milder and the summers are more tolerable with the ocean air. It is not unusual for me to walk 10 miles in a day, specially if I want to make my way down to the boardwalk for dinner or lunch. On my bike, I'm also often pulling along groceries. Changing NOTHING surrounding my eating, I have dropped weight like a brick. Working out does not even count. Working out hardly makes a dent in your metabolism if the rest of the day you are not on the move. Having a body in motion to buy groceries, get kids to school, eat dinner, or run an errand is the biggest metabolism boost you can get. I now eat whatever and whenever I want. I work hard for my food...pulling along 40lbs of groceries or walking the 4 miles down to the boardwalk and then another 4 back. In DC, no matter how walkable, biking what a physical hazard. In VA beach we have bike trails connecting EVERYTHING, even pretty far off the coast. Drivers are aware of the bikers so it is not hazardous like in DC. I'm telling you, the lifestyle in DC is a killer. Sure it is walkable, but not like living at the beach. I would suggest to anyone wanting to speed up their metabolism is to find a way to do as much as possible using your own energy source. If you live near the W& OD trail in Virginia, simply biking to and from work and then taking 20min walk on your lunch would melt the pounds away.
