It is very clear this is the world that the killer lived in. His bright future somehow got derailed that first semester at college, he retreated into the online world and was increasingly isolated from society. The Fuentes/ Loomer world gave him some kind of validation that the loneliness he faced wasn’t his fault and a place he could channel his anger.

I also fear that although it is very clear this is what happened, that the Trump administration/ FBU is going to do all that it can to squelch this story. I wouldn’t put it past them to do a plea deal where if he pleads guilty and claims he was on the left that he can avoid the death penalty. It’s like Jan 6. At first most Republicans were also horrified by it. But then they came up with some talking points that enabled them all to shift the blame and not take responsibility.

So look carefully at what Trump and Patel say. This is a right on right issue that needs to be addressed. Don’t let them blame and vilify the Democrats for their radicalization issue.

And yes, make sure you are talking to your sons. There are a lot of them holed up in their game rooms in dialogue on discord and 4chan about a lot of these vile views.

A lot of young male mass shooters in recent years have not stayed in higher education and pursued a bachelor’s degree. That suggests college is a positive socializing force rather than a radicalizing one. Having the opportunity to live and learn with people from other backgrounds tends to smooth out extreme views.

Some has to be done about the online behavior. These shooters are in online groups trying to one up each other. They are doing it for sport. The Wisconsin and Tennessee Christian school shooter had already interacted with each other online.

What they do have in common is that they are in their 20s and some people celebrated their actions. They probable both played violent video games
