Unisex bathrooms at FCPS schools, can someone explain what is going on and back it up with a source?

Can someone explain what is happening right now with the school board voting on unisex bathrooms?

I know that this is tied to a larger issue about transgender teachers and students needing bathroom accommodations, which I support, but not at the cost of my own child losing the right to use a single-sex bathroom. There is so little posted on the internet about it that I am having trouble differentiating between opinion and fact. Is it true that students in PK-12 may not have the option to use single sex bathrooms? If so, why are more people not up in arms about this? It is my understanding that the board will be voting on this on May 7.

Looks like the typical liberal view. Actually many, many people are up in arms about this. But you don't hear about it because the media supports it so it doesn't get much coverage.

Yes, kids will no longer have the right to a single bathroom. But to the bureaucrats, they do, because a boy who "identifies" as a girl is really a girl so girls bathroom is no problem, even if he has extra parts.

It was discussed ever so briefly at the last meeting, Channel 5 did a short discussion of it if you what to go back and see what little is public. They're going to ram this through without public discussion...

Who cares? I personally am sick of always waiting in line for the same sex bathroom. I wish they were all unisex.

I don't understand. My children are in 10 and 12th grade and in ES there was a unisex bathroom in every classroom. What is the change?

It depends on the school, but in most FCPS elementary schools, only the kindergartners have the in-class unisex bathroom.

Ugh, I want unisex staff bathrooms! As a teacher, there is a 10:1 ratio of female to male teachers, but a 1:1 ratio of bathrooms! I just want a single stall bathroom that is designated for "STAFF" regardless of sex!

You want to go from 2 to 1? Single seat rooms should be unisex for sure. The issue is the kids who have large shared bathrooms.....

Don't they have stalls that lock for privacy? What's the problem?

When you say that you want unisex bathrooms, are you saying that you want any bathroom available to the children. So that boys might be peeing in the urinal when a girl (actual real girl with girl parts) walks in? Is this ok with people? It's not ok with me. Are they going to implement this? How can I protest this change?
