Wow. Thanks for posting OP. I had not heard anything about this. I don't have kids currently in FCPS but once this nonsense takes hold, it won't be long before it spreads to other school districts.
I would be up in arms about it and do everything I could to raise it with the school board. |
| If this passes, we are going to find a private school. FCPS is going to lose a lot of students if they pass this. I am outraged that this would happen. |
| Good riddance to you |
I get that, but instead of fleeing, I hope that more of us will stay and fight it. Why are we turning our schools over to these lunatics? |
| They want shared bathrooms in high school?! Horrible idea. I'm a teacher. We have single unisex bathrooms for staff. I doubt student bathrooms will ever be one room. Both genders should not use stalls next to each other. They are not mature enough. If any student is uncomfortable they can use the bathroom in the clinic or the office. Why change? |
| ^ sorry I meant we don't have designated men's and women's for the staff. |
| I'm trying to understand how this works. Doesn't a transgender person only need his or her "new" gender's bathroom after he or she has had a sex change? Until then, the plumbing is different (no pun intended), so why the need for unisex bathrooms? |
|
People seem to be conflating unisex bathrooms and coed bathrooms in this thread.
I doubt FCPS is proposing to only have coed bathrooms. |
This. |
Every staff restroom in all 3 schools I've taught in has been single seat, and every. single. one. has had a sign on the door that said "MEN" or "WOMEN". It's stupid. |
No most of them still have their original parts. They just "identify" as the opposite sex. |
| High school bathrooms are a mess. Many have doors that do not lock. Now, think about it, as a woman you are in a public place--say a train station or a rest stop. Do you want unisex bathrooms? |
| This thread is so confusing. |
| If they have unisex BR, I'm sure no open urinals. Would likely be closed stalls. Having said that, it'll likely not happen. |
More funds that don't go toward teaching. |
