This! Pull yourselves together, people.

She chose to stay and keep having children with this pervert even after the sister molestation story came out.

You do not understand what she grew up in. You don’t.

Excuses, excuses.

Jill and Jinger grew up in the same cult.

PROTECT YOUR DAMN KIDS.

In the same cult but not the same family. YOu do not know what Anna experienced in her life. And Even though Jinger and Jill are wearing pants and trying different hairstyles I wouldn't put them on a pedestal just yet.

What the others did is not about "pants" and "hairstyles." It's about rejecting the total submission of women (a key tenet of their screwy "faith"), engaging with the outside world, in one case putting kids in evil, evil public school (as they were taught all their lives) and making these decisions knowing they would no longer be welcomed to spend time with their younger siblings, who they love and I'm quite sure they miss.

But no pedestal here. Just clapping back against the ridiculous assertion that "she grew up in a cult, what else could she doooooo?" but continue to keep her kids in a house (and even create new ones!) with a known, admitted child molester who also possesses child porn.

And historically speaking, this severing of the maternal instance thanks to cultural conditioning is pretty common. Think femicide in China, Spartan mothers getting happy about their kids dying in battle and letting babies who looked weak be left out to die... I won’t go on because this is depressing.

Anyway, she should be held accountable, because cultural conditioning is a reason but not an excuse, but I wouldn’t assume that she actually could have made different choices.

Accountable for what, and by whom?

She was the only other adult who did not protect her kids. Child services will take them away. She should be in jail. She knowingly had more children with a known child molester.

There is absolutely no indication that Josh Duggar's kids were ever in danger.

Well, they were living with someone who had a record of sexually abusing children in his own family, so there’s definitely a chance they were in danger.

I’m sorry, but I 100% think Anna was essentially held captive.

Plus if she divorced him he'd have the kids without supervision half the time. We see moms on this board saying they won't divorce their poor executive functioning DHs because the kids would be the ones to suffer when they forget to pack their sports equipment; this is that concern to the millionth degree.

Would he though? Considering the crimes he's now been charged with? I'd think he'd automatically lose custody, no? A poor executive functioning DH is very different from a DH who is a known pedophile and sex offender I would think.

No. He wasn't charged with these crimes until today - people are saying she's guilty for not leaving him earlier. One of his previous scandals, the one where her brother offered to put her up, was cheating on Ashley Madison. There's zero chance he'd automatically lose custody for infidelity. Men who have put their wives and kids in the hospital in documented abuse cases still get custody. It's fantasy land to say that because he molested his sisters (and ostensibly stopped) 20 years prior a judge wouldn't let him have custody of his kids.

This is all ridiculous conjecture. You have no idea what sort of evidence the judge would see before deciding on custody. You guys are just making stuff up. I’m not sure why, but it seems like it’s because you want to excuse Anna’s choices.

This whole thread is ridiculous conjecture except maybe for the occasional lawyer who has real experience with these types of charges.

It’s absurd to state that he would have gotten 50 percent custody in the imaginary divorce that didn’t happen. We just don’t know how it would have played out.

I never doubted that Anna was scared and threatened, and now seeing that creepy mug shot makes me think even more that she’s in a really bad situation. I bet JimBob threatens her life.

That is such an insult to Elizabeth Smart.

No one has said that. And you're cherry-picking But I'll cherry-pick right back at you Plenty of the Duggar sisters have stayed in that lifestyle as have many others who were part of that cult, so maybe it's not as easy as you think it is, and that doesn't even factor in what Anna may have experience pre and post Josh that makes it difficult for her to stand up for herself and her children.

People (Anna) can't be prosecuted because "there is a chance" something might have happened.

Well the judge ruled that if Bail is granted, he will not be allowed to be in residence with any minor children. So clearly the judge thinks minor children are in danger.

PP. Of course not. I’m simply pointing out that PP is wrong - there’s obviously reason to believe those kids might have been in danger.

But also we simply don’t know what she did or saw or knew. We have no idea. It’s possible she had some criminal involvement with what he may have done. Even if not, if she knowingly allowed them to live with a father who sexually abused them, she could indeed lose custody.

Looking at Anna’s IG (which I can’t believe is still viewable) I think the children are unharmed. They really do look like happy kids and have sparkles in their eyes. I like to think they have been unharmed...and I hope someone steps in to raise them out of the spotlight and AWAY FROM ALL THINGS DUGGAR

That is the standard protocol in a situation like this.
When Mary Kay Letourno was prosecuted for her "relationship" with an underage student, she was not allowed to be with her own minor children.

There definitely ARE children who are victims in this situation. But they are not Josh Duggars kids.

Yes, and we here at DCUM simply don't know what YOU have done or seen or have known. We have no idea. It's possible that YOU have had some criminal involvement in what YOUR spouse may have done. Even if not, if YOU knowingly allowed them to live with a parent who sexually abused them, YOU could indeed lose custody.

So please, give us your full name, and your spouse's full hame, so we can imagine all sorts of charges against you, and "hold you accountable" for what could potentially have happened, with no proof.

Let me help you out. Here’s the difference: I didn’t marry and then stay with a man who molested his sisters or any other young girls, and my husband wasn’t just arrested for child porn.

But yes, any parent who knowingly allows their children to be sexually abused could lose custody. Even women who were in cults or whatever.
