pimply faced manchild? this comes as zero surprise |
The crack pipes story is a perfect example of how false stories are disseminated with lightning speed --and are parroted without any fact-checking by politicians to suit their agenda. Before anyone comes at me with whataboutism, both sides do this, but it's particularly wrong when our elected officials do it. We should demand that they do better.
Here's what happened: 1. Washington Free Beacon publishes article on Feb. 7 citing an anonymous DHHS spokesman that a program backed by the Biden administration "will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and 'any illicit substance.'" 2. Senator Marco Rubio writes a tweet on Feb. 8 that President Joe Biden "is sending free meth & crack pipes to minority communities in the name of ‘racial equity.'" 3. In a tweet sharing the Free Beacon article, Sen. Ted Cruz wrote that Biden's crime policy is "crack pipes for all." Fact check: False claim that Biden administration is distributing $30M of 'crack pipes' https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2022/02/11/fact-check-crack-pipes-arent-included-30-million-grant-program/6736281001/ |
Some of the trolls on that thread have got to be political operatives. They were all over that like white on rice with endless bullying and mockery and zero good faith discussion. |
I really don’t believe Jeff when he says that this site isn’t being targeted by misinformation actors. He can proclaim it all he wants, but it doesn’t pass the smell test. |
The last few weeks have definitely seemed a little “off” and I am sure that I am not alone in that observation. |
What is a "misinformation actor"? If some retired dude who does nothing but sit at his computer posting right-wing rants all day sees a Free Beacon article about crack pipes and starts a thread on DCUM about it, is he a "misinformation actor"? Or is he just some retired dude who does nothing but sit at his computer posting right-wing rants all day? |
“In conversations with senators and would-be senators, Mr. McConnell is blunt about the damage he believes Mr. Trump has done to the G.O.P., according to those who have spoken to him. Privately, he has declared he won’t let unelectable “goofballs” win Republican primaries.”

In other news, Sarah Palin's libel lawsuit against the NYT fell apart and got thrown out by the judge.
To all of you who said she was going to "destroy" the NYT, NOOOPE! And by the way, the smirking Covington kid didn't get "millions" on his defamation suit either. He got a small nuisance settlement. They didn't even give a public apology or admission of wrongdoing, which in itself should tell you all you need to know. |

Because our educational system, gutted by billionaires, along with social media, funded by billionaires, distract low information citizens. The right wing echo chamber keeps people angry and poof, today's GOP. |
"Although it is ever so neat and tidy to blame the defeat of the former president on the existence of decisive and widespread fraud, there is not even a scintilla of evidence, anywhere, to support such piffle. The former president didn't experience defeat in 2020 because of fraud. The truth is quite the opposite. The defeat of the former president is explained by the fact that legions of responsible citizens, part of that Great Middle of America, voted the way they did because they embraced the very fidelity to their country and its Constitution that the RNC claims to embrace in its Party Platform."
