What does everyone think about SYC

McLean (better), Arlington (better), VDA (better), Alexandria (better), BRYC (better).

The bitterness and pettiness of these posts is f’ing amazing. Do you truly have nothing better to do with your life? JFC, find a hobby that doesn’t involve trashing some youth organization. If you don’t like the club, stay away.

No

We're not trashing the youth, nor the youth organization. We're trashing the snakes that run SYC.

How is this is attitude of the club? "Where else are you going to go?" I've never seen such an emblematic statement about SYC. "We're a destination club" becomes "Other clubs are not much better". Which is funny because it insinuates other are clubs ARE better

You must be bitter for not making it to their top teams. I hear this same song and dance from every parent who’s kid doesn’t make it to the first or second team and they cry and complain about how ‘unfair’ it is. How about sit and watch your player play and watch the other huger team play. You will see a difference. Many kids who don’t make it to the top teams are rec level players. Sure, go run to any neighboring league they will gladly take your money and promise to play your kid, and when they don’t please feel free to comeback here and talk trash about that club.

"the other huger team". Hello EM.

A lot of DS's friends left this club for Doradus, Alexandria, and others. It didn't help EM doesn't hold trainings, it doesn't help there's no way he was ever able to articulate the ways for my DS to become better. I am grateful boards like this exist, because the anonymity helps bring out dirty laundry. I've tried having a sit-down conversation between DS and his coach and it just never came to be.

You must be perfect and never make mistakes. Oh so is your child who never made it to the top teams. Bye Felicia.

If they keep losing paying players, it is hard to see how SYC can pay parents/coaches to get their kids to go to SYC. Or pay for the indoor training facility. Maybe that is where McLean comes in handy . . . .

And yet another absurdly stupid comment by a DCUM poster.

So SYC doesn't try to persuade parents to bring their kids to SYC and offer them coaching positions? Is this under oath?

Nope. Has nothing to do with LMVSC.

DC is rising U11 and don't want to continue to hear the same story that never materializes? Is the development better at smaller clubs nearby? Not sure if we should stay or look elsewhere.

This club is a joke and we walked away

I have an older child and every year I only see 2-3 kids moving to the top team. I'm sure every club is the same.

Do you think your kid has what it takes?

I haven't seen top coaches "steal" a player in the middle of a season.

If you're talking about opportunities to play with the top team? Rarely, they already have their own bench warmers.

Full-time starter. Walked away from SYC’s MLS Next because (get ready) the club is a joke

I played for SYC back in the 80s. Blue and Yellow kits with the yellow windbreaker for team patches. I think they’re great!!! Oh, you mean now. No idea other than my kids team used to beat them regularly back in U12 and U13 and they were orange, blue, and white.

Admittedly harsh, but the above is 100% accurate. Avoid this club if you have any other option available.
