The numbers in NYC are only going to get worse. I went up a couple weeks ago and even then I felt like it was a breeding ground with all the crowds. I wouldn’t go now if you have kids in school or daycare. Or if you work in an open office environment. |
I’d do it and be done. |
Why? You are just as likely to catch it here. |
Odds are higher with super crowded places especially where there are international travelers. |
|
. Why risk it? Money aside would you want to be in a quarantine area for two weeks? |

The idea is to STOP THE SPREAD. If we can limit the spread by limiting travel, we should do that. I’m not terribly concerned about getting sick myself, but I don’t want to be a carrier who infects other people. We need to think about others. |
We’re planning on Disney the week before Easter, too. 4 kids under 8. Should we cancel? It’s been a beast to plan but I’m sadly thinking yes we should. |
You could try to invoke FMLA if you get sick, but FMLA is not paid leave; it only provides unpaid time off. You'd still have to use leave you already have on the books if you want to get paid. |
I would. Mostly because I wouldn't want to be quarantined somewhere that's not home. We can't stop the spread. It's here. But we can slow it down and not create hot spots which will overwhelm the health care facilities. |
I’m going to cancel spring break in Colorado. It’s not essential and I’m a teacher so I can go in summer, it’ll cost less too. |
This. This is the focus now. Which is why they're telling people that it's not too late to get the flu shot--they don't need people getting the flu and clogging up hospitals when they may be overwhelmed with coronavirus cases. |
We're supposed to head to Hawaii (different island) in April as well. Haven't cancelled yet. But fully expecting the islands to have cases soon since the cruise ship off SF stopped at three of them at the end of Feb. |
