Don't know Symone personally but we have a mutual friend. I promised our mutual friend that I wouldn't do anything about this Hatch Act nonsense, but I agree with all these posters. So I will just say that I've been told her employer is the National Credit Union Association or maybe it's the National Credit Union Administration. It goes by NCUA and is in Alexandria. |
After Symone’s latest comments on AEM, no way can I vote for her. “Why don’t other people speak up?” Because you are a bully, Symone, and you know it! And when someone does ask a question or state a fact, you call them racist.
I might go for Priddy. He has done the work since he last ran to get more involved and he seems rational. Maybe Sandy as my second. I wish Maura McMahon would run again. She was so amazing at the school board meeting Thursday! |
Priddy made equally as stupid comments as Symone. Sandy Munnell should be the first. I am at defaulting to Sims as my second- because he hasn't done anything stupid. Krieger- dead last- just a grudge candidate and doesn't appear to have any concept of or vision for the larger school system. |
Cristina also hasn't said anything stupid. Sandy, Sims, Cristina is my order right now. |
+2 and I can’t believe I would put Cristina ahead of anyone. But Symone is now a definite no based on her comments on the subject. And it’s disappointing Priddy would basically be in favor of throwing his staff under the bus as a SB member. The Staff has made their case here. |
I can't vote for Symone the bully. Priddy is not a bully and seems reasonable. I'm disappointed in the position he took on school moves but I don't think it's disqualifying because I don't like anyone else better. LOL that the criteria now is didn't say anything stupid. |
I agree that I'm not thrilled that Priddy came out against the moves. I took it as a statement though that APS needs to prove its case. I think they did better this time, but I do worry they are WAY under-resourced to handle a complete boundary re-do that is coming up next. And after watching the S Arlington process up close, he knows they screwed that up by leaving too many open seats at Fleet and Drew. So I can see why he's skeptical.
I did like that he's supporting the Fleet ADA stuff, and also pushing for needed fixes at TJ as well. That's an important issue. Long story short, Priddy still has one of my votes. Cristina/Steven will never get one of my votes. Sandy/Sims/Symone all might. And I can't even think of the 7th person right now! |
Yes I was really thrilled with Priddy's support for kids with disabilities at Fleet. Symone didn't do that. As a parent of a student with dyslexia, where was her support for the kid in the wheelchair at Fleet? She seems to only care about race and dyslexia. |
Did Christina or Sims make *any* statement about the school moves issue? Every candidate should have weighed if they are running. Whether you agree with their position or not, at least it gives insight into how they would approach issues once on the School Board and that they aren't afraid to weigh in on the hard stuff. We need more healthy productive debate on the School Board and on the County Board. We should be worried if every vote is unanimous. |
NP here - did Symone say anything about the ADA issues at Fleet? As a parent of a child with special needs, I was strongly considering her in part due to efforts on dyslexia. Did she say anything about Fleet? Is Priddy the only candidate that has engaged on this issue so far? |
NO. Symone did not support the students at Fleet at all. Priddy is the only one who did. I've been watching this issue. |
Wow - thanks for answering my question. She just lost my vote. |
Yes, mine too. And Priddy gained mine. |
To be fair, Symone is not a Fleet parent and Priddy is. She did chime in on AEM and say that she supports the effort. I don't know that any of the other candidates are paying attention to it. |
But what did she do to support it? Nothing! She goes and speaks to the School Board almost every week about something else, like dyslexia. It would have been easy for her to support the ADA problems at Fleet. But she did not. |
