I heard the new TD was demoting all the current coaches so a lot of them are looking for new jobs. Apparently he is making room for his friends.

Or getting rid of friends of the last TD.

This happens in organizations when a new boss comes in. They want their people.

It sounded like it was more than a few coaches though. Do they have enough coaches for next year? What about teams losing their coaches that they have had for years, is that fair if the coach was doing a good job?

A new boss is going to want people they know and trust in spots. This is not uncommon in any organization. In fact the new TD may have been brought in to do exactly what is being done.

You would think he would try to keep some of the good coaches around. While everything wasn't perfect at SYC, I don't think getting rid of 80% of the staff with no back up plan is the answer. Kids get tied to coaches.

Perhaps some of the coaches don't want to stay? Perhaps some were asked to leave? Perhaps it is a bit of both?

Just so we're clear, you're saying SYC is comfortable losing that much of the staff. The people who have been working with our kids for years, they're the ones who were the problem?

It doesn't have to be that they were asked to leave. It's possible they decided to go elsewhere. Maybe more money, maybe to work with friends, maybe to be closer to home. Don't think the TD would get rid of an entire staff. Turnover is common in the DC soccer market every few years and possibly what is happening with the current coaches. As another poster mentioned, it's also possible that they were asked to leave. Ask your coach, they may be ok telling you.

If coaches with lesser resumes, licenses, experience, and tenure are given director roles and top teams, the current staff is being told to leave. Maybe not outright, but the tone is set.

Ha it didnt take long for SYC and LMVSC to swap directors or whatever new title they want to call it. I wonder if its worth it to attend both tryouts to see how populated they are. Are SYC players expected to swap clubs also? I cant wait to hear the official news on the new coaches for both clubs.
