Our boy couldn't get on a more aggressive team and loves Premier AC. |
All of them. |
Lol +100! |
We went to play for a specific coach...and he switched Clubs over the summer ![]() |
Love Premier AC as well! |
Just be honest. I know that sounds like kind of a radical idea in the context of travel soccer, but give it a try and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Have an honest conversation with the coach at Club A. Make it clear you aren't trying to put any pressure on anyone or make any ultimatums - you are just being honest and letting him/her know where you stand. They will either give you the answer you are looking for - yes or no -- or tell you they aren't in a position to make that decision yet. In the latter case, it probably means that right now your kid is not in their plans to be on that team, but that could change if a couple/few players turn down their offers. If Club B has given you a deadline which is before you will have the information you will need to make a decision about Club A, have an honest conversation with them as well. Ask them if it would be possible for you to have more time, and explain why, but be understanding if the answer is no. It's true that no one really wants to be told that they are second choice, but this will be far outweighed by their appreciation for your honesty. It really is such an exceedingly rare commodity in the travel soccer world that it is easy to stand out, just by being someone who tries to do the right thing. It also sets a pretty good example for your kid. |
Joga SC tryouts this weekend have been moved from the grass field at the Gesher Jewish Day School in Fairfax to a turf field at the King Abdullah Academy, 2949 Education Drive, Herndon VA.
This is for the 2003-2004-2005-2006-2007-2010-2011 boys. Tryouts will be 4-6 pm on 5/13 & 5/14. Any questions contact Coach Kephern Fuller by email at Kephern@hotmail.com. |
I'm not against honesty, but really, is a club going to hold a spot for a kid (when there are countless others clamoring for it) so that this kid can see if he can go be with his friends? It's a tough choice for the family to make but I can't really see a club making this their problem, unless it's for a rare superstar player. |
Whoah. This thread is long. seriously informed parents.
I just want to know what leagues go by school grade (rather than birth year) |
No club or travel teams do. |
My son has only been playing travel for a year, but it seems that parents who demand their kid be placed on a certain team get their way, at least, if the kid is good enough to make the club to begin with, so you could just ask Club A and tell them why you are asking. |
MSI does on the girl's side (maybe boys too but I only have a girl player) |
MSI rec and classic, but not travel |
Anyone go to this last night? How was the turnout? Are they really going to be able to draw enough players to form all those teams? |
We planned to, but had make-up league games Saturday. We have game conflicts today as well. We went out the first one a few weeks ago and there was a good turn out. |
