The entitlement to demand they be anything else or make up for the shortcomings of the entire DCPS structure is staggering.

But they opened a campus in Ward 5 and accepted families from wards 6-7-8. These people add to the diversity of the school. Our children are entitled to continue their education at lamb and lamb has a responsibility towards them. I understand there is tremendous hostility towards this group of parents, but I don't understand why. They're not focused on killing the dream of a unified school, they just want to be able to send their kids there without uprooting everyone.

There is no hostility towards parents from wards 6-7-8 who are looking for help with transportation. As a matter of fact, many families have said they'd be willing to support this effort even if they themselves don't need the transportation. There is hostility towards comments made here about diversity suggesting that transportation should me made available for the sake of the poor diverse and poor blacks, when in reality transportation is being sought for those living in million dollar townhomes on the hill. There is hostility towards comments that say I am going to ruin this for you Ward 4 families, though you make up a majority of the school and we hill people are a small minority. There is hostility towards blatant lies about what was said at last night's meeting and general misrepresentation about what is being said on the internal listserves.

So you hate white people. Got it.

I don't hate white people. If you would like to organize transportation to support your commute that's fine, happy to sign on to your letter of support. Just don't use poverty, diversity, and inclusion as an excuse for your transportation needs in hopes to get financial support from the school unless you are genuinely seeking it for the benefit of the group that needs the financial support.

Bitch, I personally know LAMB families who can't afford to pay for a shuttle to Kingsbury. Lots of charters subsidize busses. LAMB has no excuse for being any different.

One. One charter subsidizes - Mundo Verde. I hope you will support a subsidized bus if LAMB stays put and some parents from Wards 3 and 1 want you to pony up.

If they do pony up for a bus, it should be from the old SD location only. If people want a Capitol Hill bus, they can organize and pay for it themselves.
Anonymous
If you bought a house near SD and now pretend to be surprised and outraged that LAMB is a Ward 4 school then take your child out and attend your neighborhood school or better yet demand your councilman to provide good bilingual schools in your neighborhood don't try to force LAMB to pay for buses to make your life easier. You said that you were going to pull your child when it was time to go to WR, well then maybe you need to pull your child this year and stop being so angry because you didn't get your way. Enough already! I don't see the poor blacks or Latinos complaining, you know why? Because they don't feel entitled like you do and they will take buses and organize carpools to get their kids to school because they recognize how lucky they are to be part of a great school. You won the lottery when you applied and got into LAMB and you knew there was no bus. If you want a bus then pay for it othrwise do as everyone else does and drive your kid to wherever LAMB relocates if you want your child to get a private style education for free.

The truth is organizing a shuttle is hard and takes a group of motivated organized families to get it started, like they did at lot of charters. You have to figure out a stop, figure out time logistics, which kids with be in aftercare vs. not etc. And you can't manage enough ward 6,7,8 families to agree to pick up and drop off at your doorstep on your schedule. I'd suggest collaborating with your group instead of cursing me out on this listserv. I'll be walking to Kingsbury.

Mundo Verde is also projected to run a deficit for the next 3 years.

Washington Latin runs a shuttle at school expense from Ward 7-8 because the numbers of economically disadvantaged students enrolled in its middle school has plummeted. The annual fundraising effort helps pay for it. They are also considering replicating and opening a second location in Ward 7-8 because the shuttle to its current campus isn't a long term solution to its diversity problem.

Lamb parent.

I would donate to a shuttle from either ward 7 or ward 8. I really don't know where most of my child's friends live but I would hate if some of them had to leave and a donation could prevent that.

Lamb parent also. I would donate if the bus stop is going to be in ward 7 or ward 8.

It definitely has to originate in ward 7 or 8 for me not to roll my eyes.

Then be parents and organize that on your own. No need to involve us.

Let's definitely refuse to support something that would help poor people if it means it might also help white people!

It won't be full unless it includes Ward 6. But you are so petty and jealous, you just want to make sure that "gentrifiers" aren't included. Got it.

No idea. You seem deranged. Not a very Christian attitude coming from someone like you.....

I see four questions from parents opposed to Kingsbury in the minutes from the meeting last night. Not sure where you're getting the idea that it's just one parent.

But feel free to spread these lies and engage in personal attacks.
