The entitlement to demand they be anything else or make up for the shortcomings of the entire DCPS structure is staggering.
But they opened a campus in Ward 5 and accepted families from wards 6-7-8. These people add to the diversity of the school. Our children are entitled to continue their education at lamb and lamb has a responsibility towards them. I understand there is tremendous hostility towards this group of parents, but I don't understand why. They're not focused on killing the dream of a unified school, they just want to be able to send their kids there without uprooting everyone.
There is no hostility towards parents from wards 6-7-8 who are looking for help with transportation. As a matter of fact, many families have said they'd be willing to support this effort even if they themselves don't need the transportation. There is hostility towards comments made here about diversity suggesting that transportation should me made available for the sake of the poor diverse and poor blacks, when in reality transportation is being sought for those living in million dollar townhomes on the hill. There is hostility towards comments that say I am going to ruin this for you Ward 4 families, though you make up a majority of the school and we hill people are a small minority. There is hostility towards blatant lies about what was said at last night's meeting and general misrepresentation about what is being said on the internal listserves.
So you hate white people. Got it.
I don't hate white people. If you would like to organize transportation to support your commute that's fine, happy to sign on to your letter of support. Just don't use poverty, diversity, and inclusion as an excuse for your transportation needs in hopes to get financial support from the school unless you are genuinely seeking it for the benefit of the group that needs the financial support.
Bitch, I personally know LAMB families who can't afford to pay for a shuttle to Kingsbury. Lots of charters subsidize busses. LAMB has no excuse for being any different.
The truth is organizing a shuttle is hard and takes a group of motivated organized families to get it started, like they did at lot of charters. You have to figure out a stop, figure out time logistics, which kids with be in aftercare vs. not etc. And you can't manage enough ward 6,7,8 families to agree to pick up and drop off at your doorstep on your schedule. I'd suggest collaborating with your group instead of cursing me out on this listserv.
I'll be walking to Kingsbury.
