REV Soccer Only CHAT, No drama please

Anyone find it interesting that this thread is supposed to be no drama and all it is is drama. Sounds like you can’t talk about this club without drama for some reason.

Why would the 2011’s and older NOT want a coach like him? (He wins??) I just saw he won USL-Y nationals with the 2010 girls in Tampa a month ago? Apparently that team had really strong 2011’s and even a 2012.

Even if true that he wins (I have no idea), that is not most parents or kids top priority nor should it be.

He sounds like a d-bag.

Going to try and be polite. Yes you’d be a d-bag if your child plays REC and your coach is acting like every game is the Super Bowl. Once you get out of the development leagues and move to the GA or ECNL…..YES creating a winning culture is pretty key. Learning to be a winner sets up life lessons. GD doesn’t hand out 8th place trophies and I’m pretty sure he was hired to create “winning culture” and “winning mentality.” If you want to learn to braid hair on the sideline and learn kart wheels on his team, good luck. So if winning is a d-bag move. I’ll take d-bags all day.

Most people want their child to improve their soccer skills, learn resilience and teamwoek, make friends, and have a positive experience. Winning is not most people's priority. A great positive coach who runs valuable trainings and positive teammates is worth far more than a winning record.

It sounds like if you don't care about your child at all, but just want to vapidly post about team wins on Insta, than GD is the right coach for you. It takes all kinds.

I’ll disagree with you some. Winning is great, but not if it the coach is mentally abusive towards his or her own players. That is where a parent needs to draw the line. Problem is some parents are snowflakes and get criticism confused with abuse.

I like this constructive conversation. Agree, “mentally abusive” sounds whole heartedly wrong. Criticism is not abuse. I guess my question is if this coach has been around for 20+ yrs (soccer community) wouldn’t any of these dealing of total misconduct that are being blasted have a paper trail?? Sure he’s had red cards, but wouldn’t his licensing be revoked?? Again nothing adds up to any truths. It’s sad that people make stuff up.

it is a verifiable fact that he was thrown out of a game for calling a ref a "F@ggot." That fact alone is 100% disqualifying for anyone to coach MY kid. You might have different standards.

He has been around 20 years and coached at what, a dozen clubs? Coaches who jump ship that frequently are usually toxic people. And, considering it sounds like he was cheating at GFR (taking cash from parents for freelancing against GFR rules for coaches) and then got caught and quit on his commitments rather than stop his pay to play gravy train...serious yikes.

+1. The problem starts with the club staff who intentionally create drama to keep their jobs. They don’t really do any coaching. They are usually on their phones during practices.

Apparently VRSC didn’t do their homework on this hire. They are putting profit over good judgement but we already know this is the case.

VRSC knows exactly who GD is and hired him anyway!

A coach who drives customers away through antics and drama and "private practices" is not going to be a profitable business decision.

This! It's the old FCV crew (of which GD used to be a part). It's not a coincidence that he's going there and they (at least CC, MJ, ED, etc.) all know who he is.

This whole narrative is strange. Someone here obviously wants VRSC to fail. In that case, shouldn’t you be cheering the hiring of a bad coach? Instead, you are trying to convince people why he’s a bad coach and why it is certainly, this time, unlike the last 5 times you also said would be the end, but this one will be the end for the club. I wonder if you realize how much you are screaming into an empty space.

Why are you here, posting, in such a useless "empty space" ?

If my dc's club was hiring someone so toxic mid year (meaning: I accepted a team offer to play for Coach A and now we are getting Coach B, which I did not agree to), I would want ALL the information so I could be sure to attend practices and closely supervise his interactions with my Larla. I will not tolerate any abusive behavior towards my children.

I got you. Certainly more than one parent though. Why would someone complain so much yet still keep their kid at VRSC??? If both parents felt the same, they would have removed the DD already. Tells me the poster is divorced or similar…no way a married couple keeps a player at a club they hate. Sorry.

How do you consider this ALL the information when it's coming from a single anonymous source who dislikes him because their DC didn't get playing time? The person is agreeing to their own posts to make it look like multiple people. GD would not be coaching if anything he said were true. That referee would have needed to include the reason for the red card in his report and it would have been sent to the league, GD would have been gone after that.

This board only has half truths.

I believe GD yelled at that ref but not that word.

I believe GD yells at players but not in a berating or demeaning way.

If you or Larla cant handle a screaming coach, move on.

Hilarious you think it is one single person who does not like GD. Search his full name in this forum and you will find YEARS of posts about him. Is that just one person who hates him posting so angrily since 2018? lol

IMO, anyone who stays with a Coach or Club they hate is worse than the Club/Coach. Nobody is forcing you to stay at a Club. It s not you live in the middle of Nebraska. Leave. Nobody wants to hear about how much you hate the coach, or what player is starting instead of your kid. Leave.
