Taylor got her original albums back! I am so happy for her!
Interesting that her letter stated she tried and couldn't get into finishing Reputation. And she completely re-recorded Debut! I wonder if and when she will release it... Good for her! I bet it wasn't cheap. |
Was the whole thing a hoax scam? Why doesn’t everyone just re-record their songs to make the original devalued? The whole thing always felt fake and certainly feels faker than ever with her getting everything in the end. |
| If someone can please explain how and why that talentless creepy pest “Scooter” is a billionaire and richer than all these entertainers under him? Did he just steal most of the revenue off Justin, Taylor, et al? |
I think a lot of it was to set people up for her Eras tour which is where the real money was made. I don't care though, she released a lot of amazing new material with each re-recorded album from that era. It was also all available for free. Now if she did something like make you buy her full re-recorded albums to hear the new stuff then I might be a little annoyed. |
I don't get Matty Healy, but I'm still holding a candle for them. So many good songs of hers are about him that I can't help it. |
| I like some of her music and respect her as a business person, but I don't understand her taste in men. At all. |
Of course |
This is why she released all the Taylor’s versions. Not all artists are teenagers when they sign their first contracts and may have gotten more property rights over their own music. Some artists don’t need to devalue their originals, as they are allowed to continue making money in a significant way. Taylor obviously count, and it was right to call that out. She also had huge influence at that time in the industry as a whole, so there wasn’t a lot of punishment that could be pressed against her. Not so with smaller artists who are suffering the same kind of contracts. |
| The money she made from all those TV albums probably more than paid for buying the masters. She makes so much money - what else does she even have to spend the money on. I'm so happy for her and hope for her sake she can find some peace now. She's earned it. |
How and where was it all available for free? I never heard that. |
I think what PP is trying to say: if you bought the album on iTunes or Amazon music, then your album was automatically updated without you having to buy it again. I pay for Spotify premium, so it’s all the same to me. I did chose to listen to Taylor’s Versions over the original songs when I had the option. |
Thanks, that makes sense! |

I think it was all fake and I think Scooter was in on it. A ruse to get her gullible fans to re-buy all of her old albums.
There is no way in hell you can just re-record old songs and make money off them when someone else owns the rights. Fake theater to scam people. |
Completely incorrect AND ignorant of the music industry/ownership. |
There's two kinds of rights. In the written song and the master recording. Since she wrote them, she had the right to re-record them. |
