That is Trump's meaningless story. The bottom line is that he will be represented by a podium because the podium will actually be better at answering the questions. He won't touch this debate in person with good reason. He will not look competent.

NP. I’m unclear why Trump shouldn’t have his pick of venues for this debate. Biden had all of his terms met with the last debate. Shouldn’t it now be the other candidate’s turn?

I don’t know where this fiction is coming from that Trump acquiesced to all of Biden’s terms, but even if that’s true, if you think Biden’s dropping out of the race and Harris’s getting the nomination changes everything, then the best you can hope for is both campaigns starting new negotiations for any future debates. Harris didn’t negotiate the old terms. She doesn’t owe Trump anything.

Trump shouldn't be able to throw a tantrum and get his way with a Trump-friendly Fox debate. Harris has not been able to negotiate any terms of her own, but she was willing to accept the terms Biden-Trump camps had already agreed to.

I'd love to see Harris debate Trump and see the contrast side by side on stage. But Trump is just inventing silly reasons not to. Regardless I'm excited to vote for her with or without a debate!

The dates were set Wednesday, hours after Biden's campaign announced he would not participate in the process that the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates had proposed. The campaign laid out their own terms instead.

Biden's campaign also objects to the audiences — which it described as "raucous or disruptive partisans and donors, who consume valuable debate time with noisy spectacles of approval or jeering."

Other terms include having microphones open only when it is the candidates turn to speak.

Biden's campaign ruled out other candidates in the debates.
