It's like either it's somehow a special quality to be a decent partner who talks to you as an equal and treats you with respect, when it really should be a prerequisite, or it's about traditional gender expectations of the man providing monetarily and the woman making a nice home and stroking the man's ego. Either way, it's off-putting to me.

+1. I think it sounds very juvenile.

I haven't been watching because I didn't like Joan on the Bachelor, but I've been vaguely following along.

I'd love to see a version of The Bachelor with people in the 35-55 age range.

What? You want women who are 55 to compete with women who are 35?

No, I'd like to see a version of the show where the lead is maybe 45 and the contestants are an acceptable range for that age.
So far we've had twenty-somethings and seniors. It would be nice to see something in between.

I always thought there was something unpleasant underneath Chock’s surface. I did not like that statement he made to the effect of “give me your vulnerability and I will give you everything.” Now his mom dies, which was apparently not a surprise, and he is gone for a couple of days? Mr “family is everything” isn’t staying home to be with his children and family as they grieve? 🚩 Also, when he said “ladies like the tush,” I really felt nauseated.

Pasquale has actually grown on me a bit. His background of growing up in difficult circumstances and his willingness to be silly on the dress up date changed my opinion. I’m not saying he’s right for Joan, but I like him.

Joan is great, but I think the producers made a big mistake choosing her for this season. They just had a season with “I lost the love of my life I can barely go on, but I’m doing it.” Her story is the same as Gerry’s. I think Joan is genuine, but it’s just a mistake to repeat that immediately. A divorcée or someone not so caught up in their grief, even someone who never married would have been better.

I also would not let Gerry within 100 miles of that set. All my homies hate Gerry! They missed an opportunity to bring some of the fun OG women back. Their dynamic was so fun. The guys are nice together, but it’s not the same. I’d rather see less of the dates and get Joan having wine with some of the girls talking about it all.

Dan was not very charismatic, but he seemed truly kind, family oriented, and willing to be spontaneous. I think Joan made a mistake sending him home. We always knew sweet. Charles L would not be the one, but I will miss his presence. I hope both of them find happiness off screen.

So now I’m Team Jordan.

Very embarrassed that I’m this invested but here we are

I really liked Dan, agree that he is kind and would be devoted. However, I do think his health issues might be a lot to take on for someone who not long ago watched her husband die after a painful illness. I'd be scared.

She keeps saying she wants someone to make her feel safe, whatever that means. Dan was not it. (as a woman, I don't understand the 'safe' comments.)

“Safe” means $$$$. If you ask me …..financial security.

Well she doesn't seem overly perturbed about what her husband did to keep her in the finer things in life.

Agree. It means they want a guy to make money, manage it and not deal with the details.

I can’t get past old people making out. It’s kind of like making sausage; you know it happens but you don’t need to see it.

The kissing is gross. And it just keeps happening.

I think it’s person specific. For all his flaws, Gerry was not terrible in that respect. He and Leslie looked natural and attractive together in that sense.

I think Joan is very uncomfortable with it, and it shows. For several reasons I think she was a poor pick.

Joan is boring and even my mother won't watch because she looks so strange with the plastic surgery. Now that I know her husband was a fraud, and that she's out there bragging about how rich she is, I'm actively grossed out. Why oh why didn't they pick Leslie or Faith? Would have been so much more fun and interesting.

The show's mistake is wanting polished, robotic people to avoid bad surprises, but they end up with a cast full of frauds just pretending to be polished.

Huge mistake not bringing the other golden women on. Would have livened up a show that really needed it. Maybe producers were concerned that it would only accentuate Joan's flatness as a lead.

It is weird, isn't it? But I think you are right. Most were much more vibrant, funny, warm, interesting...Joann is a dud and grotesque looking.

Joan didn't stay long enough to form real friendships with the other women, and it's clear a number of them resent not having been chosen. Or felt someone else deserved it more. Might have just been awkward.

What would we do with our KIDS for a month? Maybe a 2nd mansion with babysitters for them all to run amok? Now THAT would be an interesting show to watch with kids in the mix evaluating potential partners for their single parent!
