Thank you for providing the play by play.

This situation broke my heart for all involved. For me the fact that the driver has never expressed any remorse is the most telling element. From the beginning it was not about the lives taken - but about how the parents were going to react that he was in a car accident.

Fashion advice for Usman: Skinny pants on a rotund man do not make for a good look.

Skinny pants only make plump people look more plump.

Recent juror here. 1.5 hours is nothing for a serious case like this with so much testimony/evidence. I bet they continue through most of tomorrow as well.

Sometimes they end deliberations because of their personal schedules, or they have a decision but they agree to sleep on it overnight and make sure they are comfortable with it.

1.5 hrs goes by quickly. They have to pick a foreperson and decide on approach. I highly doubt they reached a decision in that time.

If they are taking their job seriously they are going to review all of the testimony/evidence.

Why did they buy their teenager (who didn't even have a license!) a luxury car?

He’s a fantastic trial attorney who makes his living poking holes in the prosecution’s case and is very skilled at that. I saw him in closing at the trial of Kim Laroque, who absolutely was guilty of killing her husband. His closing was super long and just poked and poked enough reasonable doubt to have her aquitted.

Some people have no conscience.

I wish people would stop personally attacking Greenspun. He's a criminal defense attorney just doing his job and doing it well. If I were charged with killing someone, he's exactly who I would hire.

The way he came dress up, he didn’t dress up, it means nothing but still found that somewhat strange.

He didn’t even have a Driver license yet, he only had his permit.
There a group of guys about 15 huddle with him, just talking as we await news..

But he's not doing it well. He's using other people's money to improve his own wealth on arguments that have no merit and then passing off saying he's a good defense lawyer because he is good at giving excuses and supporting the client. There are times to support the client and times to give them a reality check. He doesn't do this.

DP. Do you think he didn't advise his client to plea, that going to trial would be a huge gamble that he would likely lose? At trial though, he's not going to act like that or rehash that conversation.

Don't some attorneys prefer to win their cases rather than be known as the person who argues for the client the best? Wasting resources? Either way, losing after a lot of arguing doesn't make him a fantastic lawyer. It makes him a fantastic arguer.

There are very few who know the conversation that occurred between Greenspun and his client (and parents who I assume are paying the bill)

Feels premature to criticize the defense attorney's arguments before we have a verdict. Maybe they'll prevail. Moreover, it's unclear if any of the people on this thread actually attended the trial.

My guess is that he advised Shahid to plead guilty but Shahid refused. It seems like he had nothing to work with and so he did his best to argue the 4 Runner driver is responsible, which is Shahid's only path to a not guilty verdict.
