Did you mean to say pay the owners fair market price for real estate they bought and pay taxes?

Fair market prices? LOL.
How about give them a pittance, like when Trump was able to get the government to use eminent domain to seize real estate so that he could build his casino in Atlantic City. That's the MAGA way.

Yes, i think people deserve to be paid a fair market price. (Please try to converse without bringing up Trump and MAGA. )

TOUGH SHIT! WE WILL KEEP BRINGING UP TRUMP AND MAGA EVERY SINGLE DAY UNTIL THE DAY HE IS NO LONGER IN POLITICS.
Total FAIL on your part. Get used to it. If you don't like it, complain to Republicans, not us.

Hope you're okay. Nonetheless, I happen to think eminent domain is unfair.

I'm fine, but obviously you aren't, since you voted for a guy who thinks eminent domain seizure is great and he made millions off of it.

What??? No one said that.

It's hilarious to watch people on the right clutch pearls say "moi?" and try to thread the needle around the Trump elephant in the room, thinking they have some kind of plausible deniability, when they don't.

What does Trump have to do with this. Trump is not the president. Joe Biden is. Eric Adams is the mayor. No one else. Concentrate on you.

People like Trump are exactly the problem. How many illegals are working at Trump Resorts?

You want to stop illegal migration? Arrest the Trumps and all the other wealthy people hiring undocumented workers. No work. No pay. No migrants.

No wall is going to keep people out. But if you arrest the people hiring undocumented workers and give them lengthy prison sentences, the problem is solved.

The Republican response to that solution, of course, is crickets.

Perhaps you should focus on the DEMOCRATS' response to the border crisis, which is to refuse to secure the border in the first place. No one would be hiring illegal immigrants if they weren't in the country in the first place, genius. But nice deflection, whataboutism, and gaslighting. Bravo.
DP

It's impossible to defend a nearly 2000 mile border with Mexico. Every fence can be breached. The vast, vast majority of migrants are streaming into the US for economic opportunities.

You want to stop it? Arrest and imprison the people hiring them.

Problem solved. Doesn't matter if you're a Trump or a contractor or someone looking for a nanny. Hire an illegal and go to prison for ten years. I guarantee you there will be no more migrants crossing the border.

But Republicans don't like that solution

That’s not true

You can invade Mexico and annex a 50 mile wide strip on their side of the border, densely mine it, build border posts to monitor the entire length with millions of drones operating 24/7 in shifts, backed up by a massive increase in border patrol

Now, all this would cost an absolute gargantuan amount but it isn’t impossible if you are willing to do anything and everything

Agreed. Easy to say you will provide sanctuary when you think only a couple of states a couple thousand miles away will handle it. El Paso and other places along the southern border is waiting for an overdue thank you from the other states.

I want to know where AOC is. Shouldn't she be protesting in her hometown, wearing her immaculate white ensemble and red lipstick, crying crocodile tears? I mean, this is her home turf! Oh, the humanity!!

Is there some reason she hasn't made an appearance?

Yep, even the DCUM lefties wouldn't like to see thousands of migrants their presidential candidates supported sleeping in tents near their neighborhoods. Where are the celebrities and rich moguls who donate millions to dem causes? they should be forking over the millions needed to support this crisis or inviting a couple of families in their mansions and housing them.

Absolutely.

But would big AG, construction, hospitality?

It's you Republicans that are the problem. You want your cheap labor. Talking about illegal immigrants is nothing more than a convenient political diversion. You won't do shit to stop anything.

Arrest the Trumps and the other employers of illegals and problem solved.

Please. So many Democratic companies want the cheap labor as well. It’s not all Rs and you know it. I agree garden variety republicans won’t because they are probably on the take.

Florida is a required E-verify state for any private sector employer with more than 25 employees and for all government employers. Mar-a-Lago would need to comply. (Law passed over the summer.)

California doesn't use use any system like e-Verify and employers who use any any system like it risk heavy fines for any violation of constraints California has put on. In other words, there are strong disincentives to use an electronic verification system. See page 31, 17:14.
