| DC submitted 6 EAs and 1 ED. DC in @ 1 EA with 30K+/year merit award and now at ED with 10K/year merit. Will never know how the four remaining EAs and RDs would have played out (DC might've gone to one of EAs, but college counselor advised that it was a risky ED - school values demonstrated interest and DC was not able to get there). |
PP- DC was specifically told to put some EA schools on their list (this is not to make you feel bad but just in case you have another kid that will go through this--it is certainly a horrible process and we are all learning as we go.). DC's EA schools were definitely not necessarily on their radar at first (and so far they have only heard from one) but it is good to know that they are in to one school and will at least hear back from a couple more in December so there will be time (if necessary) to apply to a few more. Again, not to make you feel bad but in case you have to deal with this process again. |
| Accepted to smu ED with a 3.45 unweighted and a 31 act |
Can you give details on the admits and rejection and deferral? |

<<For some of us we must apply to many because we aren't the typical 4.5 -1600 SAT student. It is nearly impossible to get in regular decision unless you are stand out student.>> 1) Above average kids are not typical, by definition. 2) You don't have to apply to more schools, nor is it "impossible to get into schools regular decision" if you aim for the correct TIER institutions for your child. 3) Be brave enough to let go of USNWR rankings people. Find schools where you child can be happy and receive an excellent education. There are FAR more than 20, trust me. |
