It is nearly impossible to get in regular decision unless you are stand out student. That is great the kid got in so many good schools. Congrats! DC has been accepted to 8 and rejected by 1. DC Private School - 3.3, URM, sports, community service, leadership positions , test optional.

Congrats! My kid is like yours but our private only allows 10 applications. My DC is into 3, rejected 1 so far and deferred at 2, DC is a bit nervous and would like to apply to more but can’t.

Would you share which schools they are into?

Stats?

3.65 weighted GPA
27 ACT superscored and 26 composite but applied TO to many schools
From NYC area
Catholic school

Perhaps some self-reflection was in order before applying to 20 schools.

That seems unnecessary.

Odd response. This shows a highly capable, go-getter type of kid. And all the fee waivers are probably because she’s so desirable to so many colleges. Way to go!

The 10 school only thing is because they don’t want the top kids taking the bottom kids’ schools as safeties essentially which could the bottom kids number ones. It forces more contemplation rather than scatter shot approach

Are these safeties? Why so many?

Yes all of these on this list except penn state were safeties. She found a lot of fee waivers through emails so ended up applying to over 20 schools🙃

GTFO. What a waste of time.

Do you mean they sent emails and offered fee waivers, or she sent emails to request them?

I didn't think of doing this, I thought the school had to request fee waivers on our behalf.

Do schools send fee waivers to most kids to up their application numbers or to kids they actually would consider accepting?

Schools don’t want applications from kids who are never getting in (or who will never turn up). That’s asinine. They want applications from kids who might be good fits, and sometimes they’ll waive application fees to get them.

Only 2 schools on DC's list even offer EA. This thread is freaking me out. Must stop reading.

It’s stressful this week is nerve wracking

ED comes out by 15th
4-5 other schools this week or next (EA)
Have 1 rejection already
1 admittance
1 deferred that was complete surprise

Not a high stat kid and this year is looking particularly tough

Yes it is stressful. Haven't heard from anywhere yet and did mostly EA applications.
