Fire in upper NW?

I don't have a security system nor do I know how they work so my question is, if the housekeeper was in the house and opened the door for perps who then pushed by her and overpowered her how was the system to react? It doesn't seem all that surprising to me that the system was useless.

I am stuck on something I read somewhere earlier that the photo of the money included half the money. I keep wondering why take a photo of only half the amount?

Some wild speculation elsewhere has been that the assistant took half.

They should have numerous "panic buttons" inside. If the breaker box is shut off, should still work, or alarm the security company that something is up. Depends on how good it is.

I just can't believe the assistant was in on the heist. He was so excited about the job, the cars, so stars-in-his-eyes about every aspect of it. He is not killing that goose.

Would love to know the assistants name.

Look at the charging documents. Pay attention to his lies. Specifically with the red lined bag and the manila envelope. He says that the other employee gave him a manila envelope with money and he put that in the car. The w-2, said no that's not correct and showed the police the picture the assistant sent him(showing 2 bundles of cash with one with the band around it in a red lined bag). The assistant then stated he lied before and what really happened was the other employee took 4 stacks of cash from his pockets and gave them to him, the assistant put them in his red lined bag, then took them out and put them in a manila envelope in the car. Then look at the arresting paper on Wint..When they describe him they say the defendant, who was carrying a bag, sat in the rear passenger seat. The document also specifically states, the vehicle, which still contained the aforementioned bag by the defendant was transported to DC...etc. I think Wint has the assistants red lined bag. IMO

I read somewhere that the patrol is more focused on the other end of the street, I guess closer to the embassies.

It's heartbreaking that there were so many protections in place, but nothing helped these poor innocent people.

I never understood what that security added - it's basically a rent a cop type firm w/ one guy driving around a big neighborhood. I used to jog through the neighborhood daily, and the security always seemed to be in the same places at the same times, which seemed pretty predictable & useless!

Never walk in your house without your car keys between your fingers like knives and alarm button ready to go. You may be seen as a weirdo, but you never know if someone is "lying in wait" inside? Coming home, you are very vulnerable. I just realized this. What to do? Any suggestions?Act lile a Swat Officer every time you open a closed door?

How tall was this family? Wint was 5'7, but muscular. I doubt he would try to take on people much taller without an accomplice inside.

Anonymous wrote:Reason for letting 4 seeming accomplices go without arrest is simple: under the Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, certain "speedy trial" rights attach at the moment of arrest. There's a clock that starts, and prosecutors have a limited amount of time within which to obtain an indictment. If they don't, the charges get dismissed. No one wants anybody connected with this crime to be sprung on this basis. With Darron Wint, prosecutors had telltale DNA evidence placing him at the scene of the crime. Easy indictment. The others were clearly involved after the fact, but it may take time and more thorough analysis of evidence to place them at the scene. If they had a role in torturing and murdering this family, you don't want them convicted simply as accessories; you want them charged as principals. I'm sure that arrests will come in the next couple of weeks, and meanwhile, these folks are being watched like hawks.
Thanks for that information. I realized that I've been thinking of Wint as the ringleader but all we know is that his DNA was on the pizza. He could just be a peon and one of the others could have been the ringleader. Hope everyone gets what they deserve.

Exactly. I doubt Wint will give up anyone else invloved.

I think he will. And those involved know he will as well.

Myabe but he's going to be in jail anyway, why tell on them and be stuck in jail with ex-friends now enemies. Especially if someone else murdered the family like that..I wouldn't want that guy pissed and in jail with me.

I think they will argue it was the possibly the brother's dna and he'll walk? with no proof of either actually committing the crime, no murder weapon, etc. they both will walk. With no proof besides the crust it is going to be a hard case.. Let's hope they have way more proof than the pizza crust.

Why all these claims about Wint saying it's his brother's DNA? They aren't identical twins and, thus, their DNA is different, right? What am I missing?

I think a lot of people on this site watch way too many episodes of Law & Order, CSI, etc. In the real world, people are convicted of crimes all the time based on circumstantial evidence. Here, we have Wint's DNA on the pizza crust (at the least). What kind of juror is going to believe that he went up to the door, took a bite of the pizza, and left it in the box? That is ridiculous. People need to realize that murder convictions happen in this country regularly on less evidence than we already know the police have against Wint.

Maybe but good luck getting 12 people to agree and find a man guilty on pizza crust dna. Anyone could frame anyone this way if it were that easy. Think

Really?? Anyone could frame someone in this situation? Someone got Wint to take a bite out of the pizza then rushed into a burning house and planted the crust? Please, you are ridiculous. OJ Simpson is one thing. This case is very different. I can guarantee you that if Daron Wint had killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, he would have been convicted on the same evidence. The only reason OJ wasn't convicted was because he is rich, powerful, popular, well-loved, and had really good, expensive lawyers.

I think non-lawyers should stop speculating on the law/legal system here. It's incredibly unhelpful.

Agreed. The level of naïveté is actually scary.

I guess as a nice person who would never kill anyone...I am simply shocked these clowns committed such a heinous crime over $40,000. Yes 40 is a lot for me as well. I want any person related to the crime to go down. IF the assistant lived close, not out of the question his Twitter account was linked to the perps. My kids are friends with every kid in town whether they know them or not.

Please stop posting the name of the assistant or links that reveal the name of the assistant. If people are desperate to find the assistant's name, they can find it elsewhere. The authorities are not naming the assistant at this time and, as far as I can tell, neither is the major media. So, DCUM will not either.

I'm amazed at how skimpy the Washington Post coverage of this story is. Like it or not WAPO, this is by far the biggest local story in DC at this time. They seem to be intentionally ignoring it. There coverage has been pathetic.

Murders happen all the time in DC with no coverage in the Post. The paper probably doesn't want to be accused of only caring about the murders of white people. Though, instead of not covering this one, the Post should simply start covering the others.
