Nobody in the larger parent community cares about SJC dominating the WCAC in lacrosse. All these D1-level players mean no playing time for other kids (who actually want to be at SJC for the school community, not just to play a sport). I am not of a "good riddance" opinion, but, my family (and most other families) chose SJC due to the school culture and academics. If you are choosing a school just to play a sport there, well, I guess buyer beware.

If you chose SJC for the academics your kid must be dumber than a box of hammers.

"if you chose SJC for the academics your kid must be dumber than a box of hammers."

you must be a Gonzaga or Prep Dad trying to re-live the "glory days"... you must have some inferiority complex.

SJC academics have improved dramatically in the past decade, just look at their academic facilities and college placement.

This only matters if those lax players are receiving non income related financial aid. Do you carry the same argument for football and basketball? Because those scholarship players aren't returning anything to the school and taking playing time too.

Based on game attendance it does appear that more people care about football and basketball. I never said recruited athletes of any sport aren’t giving back to the school, or part of the school community, you said that.

You did say it by inferring recruited athletes take away playing time from families interested in the SJC community. And I agree in that the high school recruited/scholarship athlete returns very little. Dozens of examples across the country and right here in dc.

Saying SJC academics have improved dramatically is like saying "murders in DC have improved dramatically". You can't stand on improvement and call that good academics. Sure its better than getting worse but I would say that SJC ranks among the lowest in the DC area for private high school academics....maybe not THE lowest but certainly not setting any records academically.

actually having girls has raised the bar significantly such that SJC academics on the Honors track > Gonzaga.

Who cares. This is about lacrosse not academics. SJC is a better team than STA and it is really not even close. Take your grades and test score bragging to a different page. At least Yorktown guy is referring to the sport.
