Sjc needs to get their act together. One navy commit gone and one Lehigh commit gone. Wonder how many more will be gone by the spring. Sjc definitely has the talent but doesn’t have a good culture.
Nobody in the larger parent community cares about SJC dominating the WCAC in lacrosse. All these D1-level players mean no playing time for other kids (who actually want to be at SJC for the school community, not just to play a sport). I am not of a "good riddance" opinion, but, my family (and most other families) chose SJC due to the school culture and academics. If you are choosing a school just to play a sport there, well, I guess buyer beware.
This only matters if those lax players are receiving non income related financial aid. Do you carry the same argument for football and basketball? Because those scholarship players aren't returning anything to the school and taking playing time too.
Based on game attendance it does appear that more people care about football and basketball. I never said recruited athletes of any sport aren’t giving back to the school, or part of the school community, you said that.
You did say it by inferring recruited athletes take away playing time from families interested in the SJC community. And I agree in that the high school recruited/scholarship athlete returns very little. Dozens of examples across the country and right here in dc.
