Prince Philip has died...

You wish. Philip displayed his commitment to duty by playing the role of tolerant grandfather to the unwise choice his grandson made.

Sophie is very close to the Queen and Philip, and Anne assumed many of his riyal duties and patronage’s when he retired He and the Queen are close to the Middletons, and Kate has the grandchild card.

Really? I find him to be one of the most eloquent members of the family. For a son who is grieving, I found this very well-done and moving.

Anne was better - also grieving and wearing proper mourning black.

Anne was not better.

And, Charles always looks classy. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to grief and attire...especially when you are the future King.

Without doubt the choice of color is intersting... One could assume that they had the black suit at hand considering the declining health of the Prince.. It is almost like Prince Charles had some kind of statement to make with it, almost like.. a WAY OVERDUE teen rebelion against the strict father who could not do anything to control him at this point? If it was, I don't hold this against him. It is insane to be born a next in line to the throne and have zero freedom of choice. This is when being poor beats the daylight of this option.

Well, at least someone gets it. Every member of the BRF that has been seen in public in the past 24 hours, sometimes multiple times, has done so all in black. Except Charles.

Ha! Meghan wasn't there long enough to form a relationship.

You think he was closer to Meghan than his only daughter and possibly his favorite, Anne? Unlikely.
It’s been announced that Meghan does not have medical approval to go. Under the circumstances, this seems like a prudent decision.

+1
Meghan stans being delusional as usual.

Philip doesn't have any surviving members from his Greece family?

Nope

Not true - at all.

His uncle was King of Greece and desposed. The entire Greek royal family lives in the U.S. and would have been included in a normal ceremony. Nothing would have stopped Marie-Chantal from showing up in royal finery.

In addition Phillip had 18 nieces and nephews born of his three sisters. 5 of the nephews and 1 niece is still alive. On top of all the grand-nephews and nieces who are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.

What's with the headdress???

Good God,,,, poor woman

PS This comment was about the other lady, not the Queen.

“Poor woman” is the very last thing that should ever be said about Marie Chantal. In any sense of the word.

That was just someone being vile and hateful. Meghan isn't going, she's in her third trimester, and she hardly knew Phillip.

I am surprised by this as well. It seems borderline disrespectful.

He has a large family. I don't think it's disrespectful given that they were likely not close.

I'll be highly amused if they had Boris step down, so Penny could step in.

Charles is wearing a BLACK TIE
that is de rigor.
Black tie or armband while mourning
Black suit for funerals.
Really, people catch up now.

Phillip also has a large family in Britain as well who are also related to the Queen (but not descendants). Lord Mountbatten's family. Lord M was Phillip's uncle (his mother's younger brother).

Here they all are at the funeral of Patricia Knatchbull Mountbatten - his daughter. Amusingly enough, his grandson - the current Lord Mountbatten/Brabourne - is married to Penny, the woman Phillip was living with for the past 2 decades.

Seems defiant. Black full-wear like his siblings in the official 8 days of mourning. Black armbands in the full 30 (now 15 because...who knows)

They don’t want to honor the full 30 days of mourning because it would overlap with William and Kate’s anniversary and Charlotte’s birthday. Yes, really. William is that self absorbed.

One thing I've always admired about Charles - he doesn't sit on his ass. He's been in Windsor with his mother on Friday, did a tribute at his house 2 hours away on Saturday, and today was in Ireland with Camilla to be present at a remembrance ceremony for his great-uncle's (Lord Mountbatten) bombing death in 1979. Since M raised Phillip - I guess he wanted to honor him and meet with that side of the family publicly.

I know. I wonder what they intend to do for the anniversary 7 days after the official mourning period has cut off. Its not like they can have a wild celebration anyway.

Wait never mind - the vigil was in 2015. I was wondering why Camilla was wearing green.

The correct thing for her to do is to go to UK. Period.
