Don't know, but after the top team graduated this year, they have 1 good team left. That team didn't do too well either at Nationals (0-2-1 I think). But after the current U18/19 team leaves, the cupboards are bare. |
FCV is full of good utility players with a few standouts. That's how good teams are formed. KEYWORD: Utility. |
|
Much like FCV, McLean is holding on to the days when all of the talent had to choose one of these two clubs. The younger teams at both clubs that formed after DA started are weak. |
| FCV would be weak as well. However, they are winning the talent acquisition game. FCV is not a developmental factory. |
Meh, they still have the ninth best record nationwide across all ages in ECNL. Dilution in the area is real and affects all local teams so it is unlikely that McLean will be as prolific in the years ahead, but methinks you have an axe to grind. |
I don't. Don't care. I just watch the 'Days of our Lives' unfold with all the clubs. Dilution is real. Some club or two will come out on top. |
Then I'm sure FCV will be eager to put together some pre-season scrimmages against local ECNL teams. Let's make good use of that new facility already. |
I can only wish. It would shut up the non FCV folks on this board. |
|
The haters just can't give McLean or FCV credit. FCV sent its all three of its eligible teams to nationals and two players from the team made the Bext XI East.
Mclean sent all but two teams to ECNL nationals. Its oldest team played in the final again. Several players made the all conference and were selected to the Id2 camp. Look, dilution is hitting clubs but clubs like FCV and Mclean are in a position to do well. Stop with the hating. |
Was your kid on any of those teams? |
No but I have watched them play. The reality is that the number of clubs is increasing , which provides more opportunities for players at smaller clubs. The top ranked MRM Rush team that left for Bethesda Soccer did so because the players and coaches wanted an elite platform. So MRM Rush lost. The 05 McLean team gained players from DC Stoddert. FCV picked off a few girls from ODFC in the 05 and 06 years. FCV also picked off a few players from 05 Loudoun before that team joined FCV. The DA/ECNL expansion gave non-ECNL/DA clubs opportunities. |
Ok, so what makes you think that their success as teams, who were formed well before DA will suddenly mean that your kids team is on a similar path to greatness? And this is where we are now with dilution. Five years ago we would not be discussing where a ODFC team's players migrated as some sort of power balance that can shift the destiny of a club or a league. I'm sure there are a couple of nice players in that group but seriously? We are at a place where we are tracking where a ODFC team ends up now? |
06 only. None from ODFC 05 team |
|
The ODFC 05 team was a one off. They beat Loudoun 05 to win the state championship. Afterwards, the team went to FCV where a FCV, Loudoun and ODFC merger happened. That's why they are relevant.
Some of the ODFC kids went to McLean and filled the space created by some of their players going to Spirit. Oddly enough, McLean 05 went from last to 1st after this change. Go figure. |
