Totally because you've read the book. If you could just watch the series for the series, you'd have a different take. The writer and director took the book as a base and totally HBO'd it: so the product is more intense in every sense--dangerously high bridges, water crashing on rocks, houses on water's edge, intense soundtrack, and that includes cliff and gun. And of course most characters are a hyped-up version of themselves.

Reese and Nicole optioned a great book and hired a great writer and director for the TV adaptation. HBO is the perfect platform. Can't we all just enjoy it?

But Perry's expression when Celestes breezily, beautifully, comes down the stairs and walks out the door to "have dinner with Jane" while brooding over his Kombucha?

Yes - I loved how she just didn't even pause to let him "approve" her going. I loved how she did that. It showed her regaining her power back, I hope.

I wanted to see Celeste reach out a to friend to tell about the abuse -- as the therapist recommended. Unless I missed this part?

Though Celeste says she's offended by the therapist, she keeps going back to her. I think what Perry said about killing her made something snap.

Jane kills celestes husband. He's her rapist. He's the only character she hasn't met yet. He looks a little like the guy she thought was the rapist. Then they can use the song "Janie's got a gun" on the soundtrack.

The kids don't see any of the abuse so either does the nanny. Nanny is only in the scenes with the kids.

In this week's episode, it was clear the nanny had heard something and/or knew something bad was going on. When they got back from the hospital, she gave Celeste a long, searching look.

I wasn't sure if Perry had beat up Celeste after she hit him with the tennis racket, or if he was too injured to do so. I felt my face getting hot during that scene, as I tensed up waiting for him to attack her. Such a chilling feeling. Now I'm wondering if he kills Celeste at the end! How on earth are they going to wrap this up in only one more episode?

SERIOUSLY??????? Please, please, please, please stop comparing series to book. I have not read the book and made NO connection to high cliffs, guns, High bridges, etc and the murder (except for the obvious) but you specifically saying that this is foreshadowing now basically TOLD me that the murder involves these. STOP COMPARING BOOK TO SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, great scene. OMG, I can't stand Perry. Not only the abuse (duh), but his awful possessiveness and clinginess. Even if you took the abuse out of the equation, how can she stand him? I wanted to slap him when he told Celeste he didn't want her to go to the play opening since he wouldn't be there. And then he comes home to make sure he got to go with her. And his constant pawing at her. UGH.

Yes, the therapist was so right. When is she going to tell Madeline or Jane? Why hasn't she documented any of the bruises? I feel like with only one more episode, there's not enough time to wrap all of this up.

I like Madeline and I like the way she told Abigail about the affair. She seemed so real in that scene.

I've seen every episode of GoT, some of them twice. Flaccid penis is different from a full erection in someone's hand.

It was some really effective imagery to go along with Celeste's explanation of her power struggle with Perry. As soon as he surprised her by coming home early, I knew he was going to keep her from going to the play.
