Maybe all these passionate Chantilly families can liven the place up, once their ES gets moved there. |
What would they complain about? Some are getting a fancy new school closer to their school that will be lower FARMS. The rest are not moving, so do you expect them to complain about themselves? Some moving to Skyview are complaining about the delays setting boundaries and clarifying transportation but you probably now think of them as Skyview parents rather than Westfield parents because their moving seems so likely. |
Westfield isn’t even in the plans for our neighborhood. Not worried. |
| Maybe RIO should backfill Westfield. According to my map, it’s closer to them than Oakton HS. |
If you aren't Brookfield, Poplar Tree, or Lees Corner you are probably safe. |
That would help balance out the FARMs rates as well. |
Bull Run area is the most vulnerable to a move - from Centreville to Westfield - especially now that several School Board members have clarified that Lees Corner should stay at Chantilly. |
You either have a dumb map or a dumb brain |
Here is a fact: Two of the schools being removed from Westfield are high FARMS. Therefore, Westfield may end up with a lower FARMS which seems to be the complaint from one of the parents who seems to think there is great wealth at Chantilly elementary schools and that is why they are not being moved to Westfield. Skyview will likely have three schools which are not high FARMS and the FARMS rate should be comparable to the current Carson rate or something like Chantilly. I have posted here frequently defending Lee's Corner staying at Chantilly. I was NOT at any meeting and I am Not and have never been a Lee's Corner resident. Anyone who believes there is only one person on DCUM defending Lee's Corner has no idea how DCUM works. Common sense: you do not take a school that is walkable and move it to a long bus ride when there are kids much closer or kids who do not live near their current school. Increasing a bus ride by five minutes is preferable to increasing a bus ride by 20 minutes plus. That save dollars for the school system. |
Nope. I literally took a street from RIO and mapped it to both schools. It’s actually still further miles wise to Oakton. |
+1 I’m not a Lee’s Corner parent I totally agree with them. They are walkable to Chantilly and should not be removed. |
This is probably why no one listens to you. Lame af arguments. Lol. |
If Westfield ends up adding the Centreville neighborhoods proposed by the consultants, it will end up with a higher FARMs rate than it has now because it will be losing a BALANCE of kids from Floris, McNair and Coates while adding in almost entirely low income areas from Bull Run ES. If Westfield ends up adding a Chantilly neighborhood, it will likely end up with a lower FARMs rate than it has now because every Chantilly ES zone is much wealthier. Since they already have the most low income kids, it doesn't make sense to pass by the much closer Chantilly neighborhoods and go much farther away to zone in much lower income areas. Stone MS, the only MS that feeds only to Westfield, is a low income school. Their school profile says 45% FARMS last year. |
Would never happen because FCPS caters to the loudest screamers but amusing to imagine those smug RIO people totally losing their sh!t. |
What street? |
