I actually hope trump goes through with his stupid birthday military parade

Why did they shun this event? I would have expected a million MAGA on the Mall for this.

What happened?

I wondered the same. Maybe they all had flashbacks to inauguration and were afraid they would be put up in an arena while billionaires got all the seats? Or they can no longer afford to travel? Or they don’t have time to travel because they have to do all the work their immigrant employees used to do?

We import almost ll our fireworks from China. You know they are punking TACO boy. They don’t send blue or white, we don’t have blue or white.

But, they 100%,could have done something with drones..

They send what’s ordered by a fireworks coordinator. Not a conspiracy. Some MAGA pussy said we don’t like blue. 🙄

Even funnier if this is the reason

Again, the bar is so incredibly low with this administration. $45 million wasted on a parade nobody attended - “It didn’t destroy the roads.” Also, I would imagine that’s TBD. Guessing there could be damage not easily visible.

I think the energy is just running out on MAGA. There was a hyper-charged buildup to the election, and euphoria immediately afterward. That's not sustainable. They don't even have his participation in the 2028 election to look forward to...so we're kind of in a "this is it?" reality.

I ended up going with my DH. We cruised in on 66- no traffic, easy parking, the DC streets were extremely quiet- not a lot of people and it almost felt like we were headed to a somber event. There were way less people on the parade route than we expected. The people close to me that I chatted with during the parade don't like Trump but they, like myself, have had family members in the Army and were there to support and honor our Army. The parade itself was very nice and we are glad we went.

True, there wasn't as much damage as there could have been - I was just out there this morning and it didn't look too bad.

Watching last night I saw that they had rubber track pads on the tanks and other tracked vehicles and I believe they also put down metal plates on a few key areas of the road where they needed to make turns. That reduced the damage.

Epic fail. Squeaky @ss tanks as old as the felon. Everyone knows how weak we are now.

Dump loves a show and big, strong, square-jawed war-fighters. So imagine my surprise when the flag was presented by a small, frail-looking ginger who was about a foot shorter than the Orange in chief.

I was also surprised the stands were empty. You'd think that the organizers would be able to fill those, at least.

The squeaky little tank was supposed to represent WWII - they had people dressed in period uniforms and showed equipment from various eras. Though I'm sure a lot of the people who intended in person already had a sense of some of this, who among them hadn't watched things like "Saving Private Ryan" or "Fury" or "Band of Brothers?"

That’s so embarrassing, could they have at least found a can of WD40?!

I know! We could put together a five year study of the road. I think we could get that done for $5 million and a few cost overruns.

It's a 75 year old tank. It squeaks a little. It was never a stealth tank.

Yep, that’s all folks. Elon and the Muskrateers along with the Head Orange in Charge &Co. took all the money. This is all they could muster after their thievery. Stay tuned.

I wasn't able to go but watched clips online. Contrary to what the usual malcontents on this site would claim, it looked wonderful. I'm glad our Army was celebrated in this way - they deserve it.

Yeah, well we watched. It was amateur hour production-wise. Seeing Trump’s face during the firework finale and walking offstage tells you all you need to know.

People there in person thought it was boring, too.

Low energy.

Even Trump's executive box seating was bored and falling asleep. Total fail.

A much better celebration would have been something on the mall with different periods and units of the army deployed. Like in one section a WWI trench simulation, a civil war camp, etc. With period costumers and the soldiers showing the lived experience.

The people waiting along the sides wanted to see tanks. They didn't care about soldiers, they were there for the heavy machinery in motion.

I mean this is what Trump and MAGA really want to see:

I LOVE the pouting baby expression on Dumpy's face!

Total fail, and he knows it.

If they had just done a huge display of army equipment from different times in history and avoided the whole parade/president’s birthday angle, it would have been mobbed with attendees, particularly those with little kids.

I haven’t read one hateful comment about our military. We believe they deserve better which is one of the million reasons we hate trump.

+1 This is what they do. They claim they’re the real patriots or whatever, using our flag for that purpose. Now they’re claiming our military. We support our military, fight for homeless vets, demand and fund housing for vets, fund VA. What did your guy do? Cut thousands of jobs of which 30% were veteran employees. Disabled vets found purpose and pride working hard to get Veteran’s medical care, streamlining medical visits and paperwork, and cutting through the bureaucracy.
