I am Riverside supporter (so I may be bias, I understand that), but our players never do anything close to that. If one of our players even make a bad penalty, which is VERY rare, coach takes him out of the game and there are consequences. Earlier in the 4th quarter (before this hit took place), #1 for Indy, received a 1 minute un-releasable penalty for hitting one of our players in the groin area, with his stick, away from the play. He was then put back in the game after his time was served. It is my belief that this is the same player that attacked a Broad Run player after the game a few weeks ago. How is this behavior acceptable by the Indy administration, coaches, and their PARENTS? Its unacceptable.

There are good kids and parents associated with Indy. The actions of a couple kids and the coach is hurting the perception of the program and it’s unfortunate.

Then why don't the good kids and parents step up, and end this stuff? Because you are correct, it makes the entire Indy community look like trash. Have a meeting, demand consequences and change, be adults. What if the Riverside player (or other players) got severely injured because of this behavior, would it still be "oh, that's just their style of play". What if the role was reversed, and it was your Indy player (son) being attacked out of the context of the game, would it be ok then?

No one liked the Detroit Pistons either but they won. Coach is playing chess and getting the other team off their game. This plan could lead to a state title

fine, but if this is a team strategy that everyone has bought into, nobody can say there are kids or parents on the team who aren't trash.

Don't be an AH. I can say that there are people that are there that are not trash. Also, I can say that there are people there that are trash. What is the recourse?
I was told that several parents have spoken to the AD about this and other things that have gone on with that team that you don't even know about as I have not seen it mentioned yet. The parents (some of them are good people and not trash) are more than frustrated. They want the coach disciplined and preferably gone.

Instead of throwing accusations about people you don't even know, how about offering some solutions. What do you suggest they do? I offered a sympathetic ear, but I don't know what else they can do.
I can tell you they are embarrassed about this and more as I have spoken to them first hand via our club team. I was told they spoke to the AD and it seemed to be a dead end.
Beyond picking up their family and moving to a new school district or denying their son a chance to play- what do you have to suggest?

1. transfer to PVI or one of the many private schools that are light years ahead of Indy anyhow
2. figure out a way to play for another district
3. don't play HS lacrosse and play only travel
4. take up a different sport
5. talk to school administration
6. gather a critical mass of players and say you will not play until they install a coach who does not encourage dirty play
7. you seem plugged in, I am sure you can think of plenty of options
But any family who chooses to stay on this team that encourages deliberate, dirty play is a good way to "get the other team off their game" and "win a state title" (the words of an Indy supporter) are trash, so get used to being called that if you stay on this team.

To answer number one: I do not think you can still claim PVI is light years ahead of Indy. The lost to Episcopal Indy is likely better than PVI over the next two seasons. PVI does not even have a JV team.

Get real. PVI would whoop Indy by 15+. Loudoun lacrosse is a joke.

PVI would get beat by Riverside and Indy this year.

Let’s not be silly now.

You have to go over the AD's head- get the school board rep involved.

This is Loudoun County. Nothing will happen unless you have a story for the local news.

I just hope that Briar does not stoop down to their level... I am sure there will be at least a few technicals and unsportsmanlike conduct calls.

Then he was laughing about it in the box when they were sorting out either an ejection or 2 min non releasable. The laughing and cuss word I heard then angered the Riverside coach. Which then prompted a meeting with both coaches and Indy and Riverside ADs. Not sure what was said. I saw the hit on NFHS stream and if that’s not an ejectable hit then I am not sure what is. Completely uncalled for and unsafe. Kind of ruined the end of the game and just left a sour taste throughout the stadium. Unfortunate situation.

I just watched it. It is pretty bad. Not surprising though. Team has no discipline.

Kid didn’t even have the ball. It was behind the play and to the head. That’s why I think it should have been ejectable it had nothing to do with the game. Does anyone know if that kid is ok? He tried to get up and then fell back down.

Went and watched this from the NFHS feed and you are overstating it a bit. Now I did not see it in person, BUT what I see is white (#1 or #7?) has the ball and just passed to another player to his left. #43 in Red comes from about 4 yards and hits him. It looks like he leads with the shoulder and hits the white shoulder high and his stick contacts the white players head. No audio of players so I cant comment on that.

Late hit/unsportsmanlike/ illegal body check- Yes
Blindside/defenseless player- No, player just made a pass and was hit from the front
Targeting- maybe but didn't seemed to be called so I defer to the crew that was there, judgement call inside of 5 yards.
Unintentional Cross to Head- Yes, 1 min non releasable. Now mandatory in this situation
Intentional Cross to Head (2minNR)- No, I see shoulder contact and stick slide up.
Curse word and or mouthing off- No audio so can't comment, but I did not see the crew throw another flag after the fact. If they hear it that would have been the case.

Final call in my book- Mandatory 1 min NR for body/cross contact to head neck. Possible 1 min for late hit, judgement call. Typically not going to stack these unless the teams were already warned and crew was trying to make a point.
I have seen much worse, this was not that late/defenseless and off ball as first presented above and how I read it. I don't see the need for an ejection or suspension.
However, definitely illegal and should not be part of the game.

New poster but enjoying my pop corn. While I agree illegal hits should not be a part of the game they are a part of the game and when they happen, they do get called. Parents here are really over reacting. The officials do a decent job of calling the game and really over call it in my opinion. Especially compared to when I played lacrosse. (I know I sound like THAT person) Kids play in showcases and practices all the time and these type of hits happen and they move on. The most serious injuries have occurred from players taking shots to the chest and head. Also broken legs from just playing the game. I think this team and coach must have annoyed a few parents on here but I feel confident the officials can control the game. They are far more intelligent and rational than the Loudoun County School board as others have suggested reaching out to. I would hate to think what would happen if that group got involved.

It had nothing to do with the play. There is also context... 8 seconds to go in the game. He wasn't playing defense to stop a player from scoring... the ball is actually in another players stick when he hits the Riverside player. I also, don't see how you say it was only 4 yards, he has a running start and is fully committed to the hit regardless of the Riverside player having the ball or not.... Oh also, 8 seconds and counting left in the game... dont even say "he is playing until the final whisle" we all know that is BS.

The point is, the same types of plays and events keep happening with the Indy team. SO, No Sir, you are wrong. The officials obviously don't have it under control, or it WOULDNT KEEP HAPPENING! Its almost every single game. That is why escalation of consequence is required. Otherwise this team continues to say "oh hahaha, its just a 2 min penalty with 8 seconds left" "totally worth it!"... As they were actually laughing as the player was coming off the field.

Grow up, and use some common sense. This is not club ball at some random field in some random place. This is not a 1 time isolated thing.

Ma'am, I watched the play. I gave you the interpretation and I have no emotional tie to the game, context or outcome. You obviously do. BUT if you must:
8 seconds to go in the game- Irrelevant
He wasn't playing defense to stop a player from scoring- Defense is always played regardless if it is a scoring act.
the ball is actually in another players stick when he hits the Riverside player- as I agreed late, but not that late.
don't see how you say it was only 4 yards- i have eyes/tape and saw the start of the run at this point
fully committed to the hit regardless of the Riverside player having the ball or not- just not true, started at about 4 yards to commit to the hit, but yes running down field before that

The officials are not there to judge what happened last game, two games ago or penalize a team for a reputation. They are there to ensure the rules for that game and that game alone. If an official is making calls based on past bias against a team (good or bad), that official should not be involved with that game.

If you have a problem with how another team plays over time, I suggest you take that up with your coach and the AD at the school. It is not the officials job to do that. They are only concerned with what is happening in that game, that day. I saw nothing that far out of the ordinary, but did see a penalty or two in that clip.

Again, you are very emotionally tied to this.

Can you pass the popcorn? SOOOOO funny. Some mama in loudoun is pissed because her little bundle of joy took a hit and wants to blame everyone and go ham online. Loudoun players have always been soft!!!! going back to rec days. We would be to be extra aggressive on GBs as the Dulles kids be so afraid to take even the slightest hit. i see where they got it from.

New poster, and you also sound a bit emotional on behalf of the officials, and I don't think anyone is blaming the officials. They are blaming the Indy coaches. Another bit of context is that 43 has a reputation for being a dirty player, probably the worst on the team other than #1.
