1. Riverside

3. Briar Woods
4. Freedom
5. Loudoun County
6. Stone Bridge
7. Woodgrove
8. Dominion
9. Loudoun Valley
10. Broad Run

Pretty good list, I actually think Riverside is probably 4th... They lost their entire attack and faceoff kid. They also have a very hard schedule, they will probably be around .500 this year. My list looks like this.

1. Indy - Too much talent to ignore them. Clear 1.
2. Briar Woods - Best Midfield in Loudoun with 2 D1 athletes.
3. Freedom - Beat Riverside last year, and return a great group.
4. Riverside - They will be ok, but on the decline.
5. Loudoun County - Building off of last year.
6. Woodgrove - Solid attack unit
7. Stone Bridge - Defense lost a lot, including the goalie.
8. Broad Run - They will surprise some people
9. Loudoun Valley - eh
10. Dominion - HC retired, not much there.

Are you the same guy who picked Riverside to finish 3rd in the conference last year?

Nope, new guy. They lost almost their entire offense...

Got it.

Gonna go a different way here and raise the question marks about each.
I would say that you have the top 5 teams but not in order, but what do I know.

Believe that Indy and Riverside 1 and 2 in no particular order.
Riverside- Lost a ton of O talent and Fogo, so can they fill those shoes? The pipeline is starting to run dry
Indy- Tons of talent but can they hold it together? Have the ability underperform at the wrong times and make an average opponent look good.

Next 3 round out the top 5, again no particular order:
Briar- Rumblings of dissatisfaction and injury from upperclassmen real? What will this team look like in the spring?
Freedom- How will the '24 class losses effect them? There is a ton of talent to replace and some very good players/leaders gone now.
LCHS- One hit wonder? One player cannot carry a team at the higher levels.

So many factors and questions to ask but there is your top two and the next three. You can argue the order all you want, but we wont know until spring.

Its hard to say that returning multiple offensive all region/state players would classify as the pipeline running dry at Riverside. The river still seems to be running with a pretty steady current...

1. Indy - Too much talent to ignore them. Clear 1.
2. Briar Woods - Best Midfield in Loudoun with 2 D1 athletes.
3. Freedom - Lost well over 100 goals but hey they beat Riverside last year so that's gotta count.
4. Loudoun County - Returns the VA single Season Goal record holder
5. Woodgrove - Solid attack unit
6. Stone Bridge - Lost a great goalie but return a couple well above average pieces
7. Broad Run - They will surprise some people
8. Loudoun Valley - eh
9. Dominion - HC retired, not much there.
10. Riverside - They're done, river is dry, schedule is too hard, lost a fogo that was constantly hurt, their JV hasn't lost a game in years they're clearly putting in too much effort here to focus on varsity games. They only return 2 first team all state players not enough to build a team around. They should probably just cancel the season. No way they can compete anymore. Someone call the county and tell them to take away their special exemption.

I wish Lightridge and/or Champe had more of a fighting chance….

Briar - Still in the mix if the football players return. We watched the Briar Indy regional last year and Briar’s defense which I consider mediocre at best man handled the Indy offense. They have athleticism in bunches if they suit up.

Indy-An inability to score and tons of turnovers has been a staple of the Indy offense since the current head coach joined the team. He was the offensive coordinator under the previous head coach where the offense had the same issues. Not to mention I’ve heard the Indy coach is universally disliked by the players, parents, and other coaches which he dismisses as jealousy of himself and his son. If true how do you overcome that and bring a team together? I’m not convinced of talent mentioned either as I think people assume that because some players are part of the VLC 2026 team that Indy is chocked full of talent but my understanding is that the Indy players don’t get much playing time as it’s all PVI. I agree this may be Indys best chance in looking at the roster barring a re-class they graduate most of the offense, two solid defensive starters, and the FOGO.

Riverside - It hasn’t seemed to matter if Riverside graduates players as they always seem to have more right behind them and they have a system that is proven. It will be interesting to see early on how they look. I would still put them at the top with the states going through them.

Midlothian, DF, and other Class 5 - Midlothian went far, took out Indy then ran into the Riverside buzzsaw. Not sure who remains on that team but they could still be in the mix. These VA south schools remain a mystery sometimes to the NOVA folks but I remember going to the Patrick Henry vs Riverside semi in 2023 where Riverside thought they would steamroll them and only won by a point in OT.

We will have to wait and see.

Freedom's Goalie is a student, and defense will have to carry them and limit goals until the offense can figure things out. They graduated around 80% of their scoring and 5 of the 6 middies that played meaning minutes last year, but they seem to figure things out from year to year.

BW will be solid, but do they have the depth after the starters.

Indy is very talented, have players at every position. Can they put it all together this year? I think they will have a solid year.

Riverside is the model of success. They graduate players every year and people are down on them, and they continue to win games. The Indy vs. Riverside game will be one to watch.

Those are my top 4.

Loudoun County would be 5th, but I don't know much about them outside of the returning All-American.

Broad Run will be solid, followed by Woodgrove and Loghtridge.

FWIW- Freedom and Broad Run did OK in the toughest bracket at Fall Brawl (3-2) while Dominion went 0-5. Stone Bridge won the championship in the 2nd toughest division (w/o it's 2 best poles) with County (3-2), Woodgrove (2-3) and Champe (1-4) also in that group. Lightridge won the 3rd division championship while Heritage went 1-4. Pot Falls went 5-1 in the weakest division.

No one has seen Riverside play since June... so its all speculation at this point. They didnt play in the VEL, they didnt play in the Fall Brawl, so I guess we will see how they are in a couple of weeks at the TSO...

Indy on the other hand has had a successful Fall and has shown up to play at everything, and has played well. Had a good VEL season, which Riverside ducked out of and avoided. I would put them as the clear favorite.

Briar Woods will have all of their guys in the spring, and they will be right there at the top again.

County next, they return some serious talent and the new coaching staff in Leesburg has it rolling.

Should be a fun year.

Off-season champs!

What was Indy’s record in VEL? I recall the usual controversies that seem to follow Indy, but not many wins over good teams.

Very confused by that last post. Didn’t they just play at the St. John’s tournament on Sunday?

Might be the worst team in Loudoun.
