Valor

He was an average player in the SFL league (did not start). He didn't get any better, in that whole year of practicing with Valor. We thought he would have improved a lot. It was surprising that he stayed the same as rec kids who were barely playing.

That kid was just a paying widget to Valor. He probably had a bad coach and didn't play in the games so he didn't improve.

wouldn't you improve just doing 3 practices a week year round and playing against other good players at practice even if the coach sucked and you didn't play in games

Every year Valor has a ton of kids from outside trying out, which is normal everywhere. That's why clubs have tryouts.... its the normal thing.

As someone who has a kid with valor this is on brand for them. They do not care to develop the player at all. They only care that the credit card clears for the dues.

We had one player from outside of the club come to tryouts last year and that player had a sibling already playing for valor so it was a switch to make driving easier for the family.

One kid is hardly "TONS"

The Valor Vitriol is back in force I see. If you literally believe any club in this area picks up one kid from outside, I have no idea what to tell you. I agree with the person above who stated that every club has kids from other clubs coming to tryouts. They also have their kids going to other clubs' tryouts. If that weren't the case, why hold them?
I assume the family of the player whose sibling joined didn't like Valor either, and the child who was already there was not developing, right? So they brought their other kid over? Makes perfect sense.
My kids don't play for Valor, but when we play them- which somehow seems to be quite often- the coaches seem to know what they are talking about and the parents are pleasant. I have been watching this thread in wonder. I've decided they must have a very unhappy parent with a vendetta.

With 50 teams, I am sure they have tons of unhappy parents. See pages 1-30. Sure, the same could probably be said about any giant local soccer factory, but its the only org on this forum with so many salty former customers.

Your kids clearly play for valor. That’s why you’re taking it so personally you big baby.

If my kids played for Valor, I would be thrilled about this thread. A lot less competition for their spots at tryouts with people reading this thread and taking a hard pass.

Right, if your kid is afraid to compete, go to Valor.

Its sounds like they don't turn anyone away.

If you don't think your kid will make a team anywhere else, stop by a Valor tryout this season. He will get a spot on a 4th, 5th, etc team.

First, communication is poor. 4th and 5th teams here are all complete money grabs. Recreational players at best. If kids move up, its a nebulas decision done in a vacuum. Parents don’t get a voice. They don’t rotate players with little equity in movement. If your kids committed to soccer, I’d find another institution or train them yourself. Lots of favoritism for those still happy to pay the bill even though there kids isn't truly a 2nd or 3rd team performer.

Wouldn't a kid get better just by practicing 3 x a week year round instead of 1-2 times a week for the 8 weeks of rec season? Even if she had one of the crappy low level coaches and rec level teammates?
