Rock on, OP! I'm in the midst of renewing my CCW right now. |
DC is no longer civilized. Enjoy your utopia. Hope nothing disturbs it. |
NP... I've lived in DC for 15 years. Your comments are pure cringe. DC isn't Fallujah. I bet you've barely even stepped foot in DC ![]() |
Doing this absolutely punishes decent people. Decent people like my son and daughter, both of whom would like to own the most common firearm in America (the AR15 rifle) when they are adults. Do you even realize how many AR15’s exist? Do you understand how many people you would turn into criminals by doing this? That’s a complete non-starter. If that’s what you consider a good idea, I’m not even interested in hearing anything else. |
Not yet. But who knows what happens. With what happened in Israel it's a wake up call. I was never into gun ownership, but this had given me a different perspective. I wonder how many innocent lives would have been saved had Israeli citizens had second amendment and practiced it. The fact that millions of military age men had already crossed our wide open Southern Border is not sitting comfy with me, who knows who they are and what their intentions are beyond purely economical. Maybe I am paranoid, but I am looking into figuring out how to better protect our family, urban crime also isn't getting better. |
Based on my research there are 5,000 CCW permits in DC which roughly translates into about 1 in 100 adults legally packing. |
I’m sure that the OP and other CCW holders support laws like the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Right? |
Good on OP. Democrats can’t stand when it when you exercise your Constitutional rights. They like to take away the rights of law abiding citizens while giving more rights to criminals. On top of that they tax you more for the privilege. If democratic officials don’t enforce the law and do their jobs wrt public safety, what do you expect citizens to do? Allow criminals to keep teeing off on them? Law abiding citizens wouldn’t need CCW if democrats enforced the law, jailed criminals, and put the rights of law abiding citizens over thugs and miscreants in DC. |
A good start and given the political leanings of the city what one would expect. Also a number that is higher than the number of sworn officers on the DC Police force. |
Agree with most of above, but people can and should exercise their constitutional rights whenever they need. |
Says the people who are fine with women losing bodily autonomy. |
Where are abortions listed in the constitution? Just admit it- you can’t stand the fact a citizen demands to exercise their constitutional right. |
I would expect most CCW holders to be LEOs or Special Police. |
Who says anything about this? I am pro-choice but also for Second Amendment and right to defend yourself. I am sure I am no unicorn ![]() |
OP here. I am comfortable with laws that make it harder for people legally prohibited from owning firearms from getting there hands on them, as long as those laws do not limit or infringe upon the rights of those who DO have a legal right to possess them. I would also agree that we need to increase penalties and the application of penalties for those who illegally possess firearms or use them for illegal purposes. Officers I have talked to are tired of arresting people for serious offenses and seeing them on the street days later. It's demoralizing and it reinforces the belief in the mind of the criminal that, in the words of the current chairman of the DC Council, "you can get away with murder in this city." |
