The big issue is that ATF isn’t willing or able to combat interstate gun trafficking. |
And there you have it. |
At one point Brady was pushing for this but it looks like they gave up on federal level and are advocating on the state/local level. Which will help done but doesn’t fix the systemic issue |
^Will help some |
I doubt there is a single State that does not criminalize possession of firearms and/or ammunition by felons and other persons who would be prohibited under federal law; interstate firearm transfers; straw purchases and the like. This is the fundamental fraud of anti-firearm organizations. They cynically create the impression of an environment where firearms are a wholly unregulated free for all, when in fact there are multiple layers of duplicative federal and State regulation, covering many if not most or even all of the subjects they claim need still more regulation. Making criminal misconduct “more illegal-er” will not “help sone.” It will not help at all, unless “help” is defined as moving the nation toward their goal of ultimately prohibiting private firearm ownership while ignoring the predations of criminals who already don’t obey the law, any law. |
Gun laws already in place are more than sufficient to get and keep the criminal element off the street. Problem is lack of appropriate prosecution and length of sentence for those convicted of gun crimes.
As long as the justice system continues “catch and release”, which with the increase of codified cashless bail is only increasing then citizens have no choice but to arm themselves. Police respond to crime, they don’t prevent crime. Police are responding even slower today and lack even a deterrence capability due to almost universal underfunding in major cities across the US. |
Sure it does. It give LEO more tools to fight gun trafficking. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2023/04/27/results-of-new-gun-control-laws/11734545002/ “President Joe Biden signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act last summer, making it a federal crime to traffic in firearms and stiffening penalties for “straw purchases” made on behalf of people who aren’t allowed to own guns. Since then, new data from federal prosecutors shows they’ve charged 31 people in 17 cases under the new legislation. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokeswoman Carolyn Collins called the laws “powerful new tools.” Federal agents seized 23 firearms shown here from two suspects they say were illegally trafficking guns from Ohio to the Bronx in August 2022. The pair are charged with new gun trafficking law signed by President Biden. The changes to the federal Gun Control Act “are designed to enhance ATF’s ability to identify, deter, and investigate those who illegally divert firearms from lawful commerce,” Nothing about this “prohibits private firearm ownership”. ![]() |
Time for constitutional carry across the country. |
EXACTLY. |
Congratulations? |
I just for the life of me do not understand in a civilized society, why anyone needs to carry around a gun. It’s so stupid. I have never and will never and my life is perfect and never in danger. So moronic. |
Some people have inadequacies that can only be soothed by kidding themselves they could actually shoot another human being. |
Not everyone gets to live with you in fantasyland. |
Some people have inadequacies they attempt to assuage by repressing their own internal impulsivity, rage and violence and then projecting it onto other people and inanimate objects, all the time demanding to be free agents in every area of their own lives while dedicating every effort to micromanaging the lives of others. |
Given the way things are going in the world (and in many US cities) right now, good for you OP!
